"He may never live up to his draft spot. But SF thinks he can be a disruptive presence" sounds like Armstead 2.0

If Bosa, Buckner and Ford are out there and healthy with him he doesn't have to play like #3 overall pick to make an impact. It sucks but it is what it is.

I think the team thought he could transition into a Michael Bennett type(I know I did as well) which is a talented player on the edge who could rush or stop the run then move inside and really do some damage. He showed he really can't play well on the outside so if he's not a 3 down player and just does his damage on 3rd downs or obvious pass situations I'm ok with it. It's a passing league now so those opportunities should be the bulk of defensive plays. Especially if our offense can do their part.

I dont understand how they couldve thought he could be another bennett when he did all his damage from the inside. I f**king hate when we draft a guy who dominated or played really well at his college position only to switch him in the NFL as if its easier than college. Look at Moore, was really good at safety then we try to switch him to CB only to realize hes a FS and look hes nearing a starting job in the NFL.

Hoping he gets a ton of snaps on Saturday

Most likely out:

LE/W9: Nick Bosa; Arik Armstead, Jullian Taylor & Jamell Garcia-Williams
2i: Sheldon Day; D.J. Jones, Kentavius Street, Jay Bromley & Jordan Thompson
3T: DeForest Buckner; Solomon Thomas & Kevin Givens
RE/W9: Dee Ford; Ronald Blair & Damontre Moore

We're about to see a heavy dose of:
LE/W9: Kentavius Street; Jullian Taylor
2i: Sheldon Day; D.J. Jones
3T: Solomon Thomas
RE/W9: Damontre Moore

We might see Thomas inside at 3T and 2i exclusively with this new scheme.

Back to strong side defensive end with Bosa out
I was happy when we drafted him. Remember thinking too prior to the draft that Mahomes looked pretty good from his Texas Tech highlights. Boy did we misfire on that one. Probably bigger misfire then taking Smith over Rodgers since Smith eventually developed into a playoff caliber qb.
Door wide open for him with Bosa going down

Preseason cool. Regular season hell naw.
Nothing to see here.

Kyle Shanahan:

"But his strength is rushing inside on third down. That's also Buckner's (strength). That's also (Arik) Armstead's. And so you've got to think of guys to put on the outside, so Solly didn't get as many opportunities that fit his number one skillset. So I do think we'll be able to use him more in the right spots, now that we've got some other guys to do that job."

This staff does a lot of things very well...

two of those things they do so well are changing player's positions once they get here and bringing in injury prone guys

Still legit scary tho especially now that they have "raccoon on meth" coaching them up...Woods also doing his part for the DBs
