Mental illness is a disease just like diabetes or cancer. It is frequently genetically linked. It isn't something that you "just get over." A central part of that campaign is to educate the public on the danger and the harm of uninformed statements about the disease. Such statements are more than "not helpful," they can be destructive on multiple levels.

I say all this because there have been instances in this thread where exchanges have occurred that have been hurtful, even inflammatory to people who have had, or are having to deal with this illness in their personal life. We must stay away from these kinds of comments, as innocently or ignorantly (Iacking in knowledge) as they may be.

Let's bring the WZ up to a new level of understanding and civility on a matter that is of much more significance than just football. OK?
