Kwon played lights out when he was in. Pff grades are stupid. Not saying Thomas was good, just saying pff grades irritate me.

Kwon got good grades for tackling , but they didn't like his coverage and pass rush

I'd like to at least see what Thomas can do at the position that got him drafted so high.
Frustrating.
What I dont get is how people see Thomas not getting snaps inside over Armstead and their opinion being "why dont we put Thomas in there to see what he can do?" Obviously, the answer the consistent, albeit generally not gamechanging, play of AA is better than what Thomas would give us. Otherwise, the coaches would play Thomas.
The "we might as well see" opinions are starting to wear thin. Thomas isnt any good.
Exactly. And they should be arguing for him getting more playing time outside in base. Cause at least he has some speed and wouldn't allow some crazy play like Mahomes had in KC last year on his side.
Armstead uses the same move time and time again...bullrush. Here and there it works but how many times have we seen him look like a statue as a play goes right by him?
To me Armstead isn't on this roster next year. Thomas is at least still under contract. It's very frustrating that a #3 overall pick who has at least 2 years left on his contract isn't being played at his ideal position. At least put him inside on obvious pass rush downs.
I simply don't get the fascination with Armstead....certainly not on the outside. IMO that's why our pass rush wasn't showing up early in that game.
But I guess it is what it is. Hopefully for Solly's sake a team like NE picks him up where they actually understand how to use tweener type players. Kyle Van Noy had a nice career revival with Belichick. I'm sure they'd love to take Thomas off our hands if we're not going to use him.
Armstead has no business on the edge.
If Thomas isn't going to play then try to get what you can for him.
I agree with your second paragraph....AA has no business playing on the outside...HOWEVER, NEITHER do any of out other DTs either...and I mean all of them. None of our DTs have shown that they can play outside. Why we carry 8 or whatever # of them, IDK. Ok, yesterday in the heat... we needed a bunch...but Day, AA, Solly, Blair, DJ, Julian, i'm Missing someone here....point is none can play outside. so, get more DEs. It is already on the "to do " list.

He's just a rotation player. Really nothing more.

He missed a tackle early, but let's not sit there and ignore the fact that he had beat his man on that play as well.
Yup, AA had the best game of his career.
Absolute TRUTH!
If he can keep this up we're in for a hell of a ride this season.

I have no idea what you guys are seeing. He had a decent game but why are people reacting like he was a dominant force for us yesterday? He had a couple of good plays in numerous snaps and yes he got himself a sack, even though I thought it should've been split between him and Nick cuz Wilson was getting out of Armstead's grasp on that play.
Sidenote: 2nd and 5(play right before NIck got his sack) how in the fuk did the refs mark that as a 1st down?? That drive ended up resulting in their only TD on offense.

Yeah I don't get wtf they're even grading at that point. They must give a huge negative to overall grade in regards to penalties.
Kwon had the unnecessary contact/ejection and Thomas had the offsides penalty(seriously what's happening there?)
And just curious...how does Thomas not have anything on the stat sheet? I realize he didn't do much in his 12 snaps but he was the player to touch Winston down after the bad snap they had. Isn't that a tackle at worst/sack at best? As cheap as it is? Or did I miss something and they don't count those anymore?

I mean, all it took was 12 snaps to have a brainless penalty. Hope Dee Ford isnt rubbing off on him in that particular regard.

What do we call top 3 draft picks who get 12 snaps in their third year and play below average with the limited time they have?
B...bu...bus... no! Too soon!!

12 snaps for a DLman aren't enough to show much. His offsides penalty though was pure idiocy. Same goes for Bosa. Considering what happened to Dee Ford last year on that penalty none of our guys should be lining up offsides. I don't get that. The ball is RIGHT there. How do you line up offsides? At least jumping offsides I understand - sometimes you try to time that snap and it backfires but lining up offsides? SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.
I'll wait for the ALL22 to go back and watch his snaps unless someone is less lazy than I am. It did look like he was getting a good jump off the ball but didn't do much with it.

Lol I yelled at my screen when he did that. So frustrating. Then AA almost lined offsides right after that.
It frustrates me that we struggle with the little things so often. Harbaugh's team was much much better at the little things. Albeit they were a much older/experienced team.

I don't care who's playing we have to clean up the stupid penalties. Super frustrating watching that game yesterday...3 TDs wiped away(may have bothered me more since I had Jimmy and Kittle in FF lol), constantly pushing ourselves back on offense after nice plays. Helping Tampa Bay get second chances.
I get the PI/holding calls on D will happen in today's NFL but the procedure sh*t, the unnecessary roughness, illegal formation should be locked down.
Best way to find your way on a losing side of the ball is pulling that crap.
