I'd be surprised if he restructures his deal. Especially if it's all guaranteed. He will never sniff $9M again. Not much incentive to give up immediate guaranteed money. Money paid now goes to work for you faster than money paid later.

His 2020 guarantee is $4,300,000. His cap number is $8.9M, includes roster bonus and other incentives. They could extend him without him losing money. In the end, if he stays, and plays the way he has in the past couple of games, he will be worth it.

Sure you could extend, but if you have pretty large contracts for Bosa (rookie deal but #2 pick money), Buckner, Armstead, DJ Jones (contract year), Ford, and a potential 3rd edge guy...why extend Solomon Thomas if you can replicate his production and impact with a cheaper player (e.g. Street fingers crossed).

He wouldn't get edge money if they offer an extension. 4-3 DTs make less than ER.

I don't see an option for the team other than an extension. No one is going to take him with his current cap number. The 49ers would have to be willing to eat part of the money to move him. If that is the case, it is likely he would be cheaper than whoever they would get to replace him.

For example; someone offers to take him for $4.5M, and the 49ers eat $4.5M. Now you look for someone you can get for around $2-3M. The FA market is full of guys like that but on the wrong side of 30. If you are willing to spend $4M or so, you may as well stay with ST, which is what I expect.
AA non-exclusive franchise, if he gets a crazy offer we can't match them we get 2 first round picks. Otherwise we get to keep him

We will extend him. A tag ups the ante to a crazy level. No one is going to give up 2 1s for a DT/ER.

That's crazy talk

And probably impossible with the cap.

I think he just plays out year 4. Get a comp pick in 2022 for him.
Thomas just needs more snaps. I think he could out play AA given the chance
thought he was extremely noticeable last night. obviously not up to #3 pick standards, but he had a lot of energy, caused some pressures and was getting into the backfield with ease

True. I did say at one point - oh wow that's Thomas. He's looking decent....

I really just want to see him play exclusively inside. It's the only time he flashes. He may be better off with a fresh start where there isn't already a logjam at DT.
I noticed Street/95 more

We had a lot of pressure last night that didnt finish. Wasnt just Thomas. Thomas was disruptive at times. That's more than what we can say about his other games.

Let's hope he builds on this moving forward. Ford coming back can only help.
I wonder who was next on their draft board after Thomas....

Froster
We're in the playoffs. Don't care where he was drafted. Just make plays and be useful with the snaps you get.
Debate his future in the offseason.

Nothing on the stat line.

Thomas had 2 unassisted tackles.
