I can't remember weren't you the guy that said solly could be what za'darius smith is? I feel like that s**t can still happen.
Wouldn't that be the bomb!

"It's a totally different team than what I witnessed down the line from Solomon, Buckner, Armstead," Mitchell said. "They're playing fast and free and they're comfortable and they know themselves. It's really just a great atmosphere."
Mitchell was particularly impressed with a sequence he saw from Thomas early in the fourth quarter.
"That screen play that Solomon made that play on, he called it out before he even made that play," Mitchell said. "I can't tell you how proud of him I was, just as a vet to see these guys grow and actually be able to see something and capitalize on it is just growth.
"We knew what they were going to do, but literally right before the play started, Solomon called it. He gave me the word. 'This is going to be a screen. Be prepared.' We were both were on top of it."
Thomas lined up at right defensive tackle with Mitchell to his left. As soon as Vikings running back Dalvin Cook started to leave the backfield, Thomas changed course to track him. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw also knew what was coming, and he dropped Cook behind the line of scrimmage and forced a fumble with Thomas right there.
"Just the confidence, to be able to call out something and look me in the eye, like, 'All right,' rather than being apprehensive and being slow, and being able to play fast and trusting what you're seeing," Mitchell said.
Thomas had three tackles and a sack while playing 14 snaps.
https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/49ers/how-49ers-d-line-has-grown-eyes-returning-veteran-earl-mitchell - I wonder if we try to extend Solomon too (with built-in protections) to see if we can keep him for cheap in case he balls out, yet be protected financially if he doesn't, all the while lowering his cap number.

Solly has tons of potential. He's high effort, high energy, disruptive, and productive. Lines up, does his job competently. He's the KWaun Williams if the DLine

We definitely can use another productive body to give others rest. But if he plays like the way we thought he was supposed to play our D will definitely carry us to victory.

This last game was the best game ST has had in terms of making the most of his snaps. I hope he plays like this going forward.

Agree. I wonder what the chances are that we do what we did with Lake Tomlinson -- decline the 5th year option, but extend him (of course for much less though, because he's not currently a starter). Laken got a 3-year extension. If Solly could continue to play like he has for the past month, I'd absolutely give him an extension for the right price.

He's a good dude, but he has minimal value. If he signs a reduced 3 yr deal, then great. But he may get some increased value due to playing on our D and some other team would pay him more.

HATE to see SOLO go because he's a good guy w/a very very great work ethic BUT we also have other players (same position) who are as young but bigger and also are very dedicated... IF it was up to me, I'd give him a good contract.

I feel you! I understand he is a part of what makes us a dynamic team and don't want to shake that up.
