If he does, then hopefully someone pays him next off season (not us) and we get a good comp pick the following draft :)

Well that's certainly one way dawg. Another might be to keep 11 instead of 8 DLs, (IDK where we would stash them)...but by SB time last yr our 8 DLs were down to 5, maybe 6 and we needed at least 3 more. I hope solomon is one of those many DLs we somehow carry, stash, hide or whatever, as even tho JL vastly improved the rotational players, injury felled 3 of them and we limped thru the SB with no where near enough manpower to get our starters thru to the end. They gave it their all, but in the end our starters just got worn down. When you have the best DL in football, those 4 guys gotta get a blow frequently, and that is where we got burned.....by virtue of Dee, DJ Jones, and Blair all unable to play. Dee was in a couple snaps someone said, but obviously he wasn't healthy enough to play.

Goes without saying the KC holding was insufferable, but if the refs don't call it , that just makes it harder on the DL. Most held guy last yr in NFL by a mile was Nick,, the DROY. But man, does that offensive holding ever take it out of a player. Nobody is going to go for 11 DLs, unless we can carry 3 on PS. If so, i'd Sure do it. Or 4 even. But we gotta have some OLs. Too.....

Yeah, any compensation would be fine at this point.

I don't know if he hasn't figured it out by now, I doubt the light suddenly goes on now.

I wouldn't expect highlights for backup defensive lineman.
If you could have one player have a Jimmie Ward type breakout year, would you pick Solly or Pettis and why?

For me we need Pettis to produce more than Solly. Yes we lost Buck and Day, but have Kinlaw, DJ, Street and also Taylor inside. WR is the bigger unknown at this point. Pettis is way ahead of Hurd and Brandon A. in his knowledge of the offense also.

To answer your question I'd go with Pettis for the reasons you stated. But I'd like to include Spoon as a choice since the CB group is shallow. Then I'd pick Spoon as the struggling youngster who I'd wish to have a Ward-like breakout year.

Well Pettis is also under contract beyond this season so having him break out not only means you're much better off at WR but you have control over the player beyond his breakout season which gives you more options.

If Solly broke out this year that would be great but odds of us keeping him to reap the rewards would be minuscule unless out of guilt he took a big discount deal to stay here.

Yeah agreed, if Solly broke out, I can't see us paying big money for him anyway...

Its cause he doesn't want anyone stealing his techniques. He's put in a lot of hard work on those.
