People are still making this comparison, eh?

Better than when he was first drafted and people were comparing ST to Aaron Donald.

With their defensive system now I think they are looking for more defensive lineman who have great bulrush moves

Buckner was more finesse but I was still pissed to see him go

Solomon Thomas I hope can develop but I'm extremely skeptical

Saleh definitely comes from the bigger is better philosophy as you heard Lynch referencing the big G's of Seattle and struggling with them. 1,800 yards and 4.5 YPC also might be why they wanted to get bigger too.

Agree with both. I can see our next first round pick next year being either a Dee Ford 2.0 pass rusher, or if Kongbo/Hyder pan out and get perhaps a 8+ sack season, I can see ShanaLynch going with another Kinlaw 2.0 in next years draft. I think if you have two big Kinlaw-type guys in the middle of that defense, the run isn't going be a winning strategy against this defense, wide 9 or not.

Totally bummed to see Buckner let go, but that's the price you pay for being 2nd place last year, unfortunately. The whole system is now against ShanaLynch. Unless they draft like the Patriots, we will be losing more talent than gaining -- and our regular season record will reflect that.

I talked about that on a thread I created.

I was under the impression that they are trying to get bigger guys with more bullrush ability given that they brought in Kinlaw, Hayden,Darrion Daniels among others.

I thought it could only help with the pass rush and run defense given the wide 9 system

Please give more of your input

Can't blame him, go look at Solomon Thomas college Highlights, he was a monster, I thought Thomas and Foster were going to be great picks so I was wrong too, it's why the draft is so crazy but intriguing.

He was a monster in a couple of games in one season.

He was way over-drafted.

Make him a fullback just so we can say we drafted a fullback #3 overall.

That's incorrect. Solomon Thomas is a much better athlete than Arik Armstead.

The difference is Solomon just sucks. For whatever reason, he can't put it together. He's never shown anything and sucked since day 1. He's never looked good in camp or in games. Conversely, AA has looked good in both camp and games before last year. It sucks, but it's the truth.

Even that would be pushing it.

I'm rooting for him to have 8 sacks this year.

Pro football focus says Solly's in "dire need" of a strong TC. I like PFF analysis for the most part but they're pretty stupid on this point. Training camp is not his problem, it's live game action he's in dire need of performing well in. His issue is the opposite of many other players. He practices better than he plays.

Maybe he needs a good TC to make the roster? Im sick of this bust. I wanted Mahomes 1st (Im on record in his draft thread) and McCaffrey 2nd and obviously both those picks would be head and shoulders better than Grundy who I never liked.

Solly isn't going anywhere, his deal is fully GTD, unless someone trades for him, we won't weaken our depth.

Also getting Mahomes or McCaffrey would have been nice, but those contracts they signed, the 49ers would never have done $45M a yr for a QB or $16M a yr for a RB.
