I heard they had him playing some nose tackle yesterday. You cant say the niners never gave him a fair shake, we have tried him at every single position on that line now. Rumor has it, if it doesn't work out at nose tackle they are going to give him a shot to start opposite of Sherm

Yeah, they've given him more than enough chances - it's a shame he's even a bust as a backup player.

I'm rooting for him to have 8 sacks this year.

If he gets that many this D will absolutely be annihilating offenses cuz it means Bosa/Ford will have about 25-30 combined and Armstead like 11 or 12.
i don't care about sacks, just get enough pressure to get wrapped up by one of our Edge guys
Looking at a recent Saleh interview it seems like he talked about Street first and Thomas second. It could be that Street is finally healthy and ready to compete for a lot of snaps.
Quality depth?

Can't blame him, go look at Solomon Thomas college Highlights, he was a monster, I thought Thomas and Foster were going to be great picks so I was wrong too, it's why the draft is so crazy but intriguing.

He was a monster in a couple of games in one season.

He was way over-drafted.

This.
He'll probably never be a starter but he's a solid backup. He's not a total disaster if he has to fill in for a few plays. People that say he was over drafted are wrong. He was highly rated coming out of college by many scouts and other teams. Maybe he should have been drafted a little later in the round but the Niners needed D line and grabbed him. The fact that he hasn't been as good as projected doesn't make him over drafted. It makes him under productive. If you analyze the entire draft a year or two after then you can always find guys that played better but were drafted later. Teams go with what the scouts and combine results tell them. They don't have a crystal ball. They draft players that the think can help them when their turn comes. They don't care whether draftniks have the guy ranked #2 or #13 or whatever.

Well I'm rooting for that too!

Pretty sure he'll get sacked (fired)before that happens.

He said in his presser he's 280 pounds now.

He'll be lucky if he racks up 8 sacks before he retires.

Obviously this is a make or break year. His fifth year option was not picked up. Whether the niners resign him or another team does to a good contract he needs to have one of those years. That players sometimes have. You see it all around the league. So depending on the quality reps he is given. It is a 50/50 chance. As a niner fan you hope for an unprecedented year.
If he can turn it around then it's a Win-Win.
