The same weight he was at in 2018
Solomon Thomas just told me that he tried to drop weight last season after opening at a career-high 280 pounds. Thomas says that he feels best playing at 270 pounds so that he can bring unusual quickness against guards in the 3-tech position.

dude has been yo-yo'ing his weight. It doesn't matter. He sucks at all weights.
2017 - 270 lbs
2018 - 280 lbs
2019 - 270 lbs

Does being a fan mean you have to make believe s**t players are not s**t players?

I supported Thomas since he was drafted, but every year he breaks my heart. It's over. Dude is a grade A bust.

Never knew we were the ST 49ers. I always thought it was SF. At this point he's just a 1 year rental anyways. Kinlaw is the future 3t.

Solomon Thomas said he played anywhere from 260-270 last year. Now he's up to 282 as he's playing the majority of snaps inside. Thomas has been active playing DT for three practices in a row.

He was highly rated coming out of college by many scouts and other teams. Maybe he should have been drafted a little later in the round but the Niners needed D line and grabbed him. The fact that he hasn't been as good as projected doesn't make him over drafted. It makes him under productive. If you analyze the entire draft a year or two after then you can always find guys that played better but were drafted later. Teams go with what the scouts and combine results tell them. They don't have a crystal ball. They draft players that the think can help them when their turn comes. They don't care whether draftniks have the guy ranked #2 or #13 or whatever.
You're wrong. We didn't need interior d-line as we had drafted Armstead and Buckner in the two previous years. Sure, we needed edge rushers but Thomas was quite clearly an undersized, uber athletic, run stopping DT and not a pass-rushing edge.
The mistake was projecting Thomas could "play all over the line". I can see why people would make that mistake, afterall, Bosa and Thomas are nearly the same size and Armstead became a beast of an edge rusher despite only having 4 sacks in college. However, I and many others said that projection was ridiculous given what he'd put on film.

Hope it works out. It is always a great thing to have depth on the Lines. He's got one last year to prove it here. It's a Contract year, so I would not be surprised at all for him to have his best year statistically (if he plays a full Season - injuries/Covid).
I'm not sure even that would be enough for the Front Office to try to keep him, even on a friendly deal. Salary Cap is going to change things up for this team. They need to go "All-in" philosophically this year unless they pull off some real fancy contracts.

In this defense you can't have too many linemen. Remember that when they drafted Thomas, AA wasn't playing that well. People were calling him a bust. Thomas hasn't produced but I still say he wasn't over drafted at the time based on his projections by scouts. I consider a player as over drafted when he is projected by most scouts as a 3rd or 4th round pick and then gets drafted in the 1st or 2nd.

He was playing at big edge rusher too, keep that in mind. Going that low in terms of weight probably hurt him over all in strength and quickness.
