Never knew we were the ST 49ers. I always thought it was SF. At this point he's just a 1 year rental anyways. Kinlaw is the future 3t.

From the last time I looked at the roster. Solomon Thomas was a 49er.

He was playing at big edge rusher too, keep that in mind. Going that low in terms of weight probably hurt him over all in strength and quickness.

He said he felt uncomfortable at 280 just 2 years ago.

Two years ago, his sister died, and I would think he'd be probably depressed as well as uncomfortable. Kocurek is giving him a shot at being at the 3-tech long term instead of playing both DT and Edge. So far, camp indications are positive, and I think folks should at least pay attention to that vs assuming he's toast as a 49er.

No, his sister did not die that year. That was 2017. He bulked up to 280 in 2018 for his 2nd season in the NFL, and then went back down to 270 in 2019 because he said 280 felt uncomfortable.

Now he's back to 280.

I tried to find an article on it, and couldn't, and assuming that article/interview exists - I think it still had to do with his role as being both DT and edge rusher. I also think he's just trying to do *something* to improve his performance, losing and gaining weight might be what he was trying to do. We'll see if he has better results this year vs the previous years. Hope so, because he's not going to be here next year if he doesn't improve.

He just has to get results. If he can't do that, ShanaLynch has to let him go one way or another. Hopefully the contract year motivates him like AA was motivated.

And? You know Kwame Harris used to be on the roster too. And Tomsula was a coach here. If you want to root for sh go ahead but polishing a turd doesn't make you a fan

He's *still* a 49er, and he isn't turd. Last time I looked, he was a good enough player to be activated in the super bowl vs other players who weren't.

I think there are just too many negative ninnies here regarding Solomon Thomas. Those that are negative on Thomas just haven't been paying attention.

, but he's such a talented football player that sometimes it's, 'Well, shoot, we've got to get him on the field.' But, with what we have now with being able to bring [DL] Kerry Hyder Jr., we have Ronnie coming back from PUP, you've got Dee Ford, you've got Bosa, you have Arik who can play outside, too. We're doing everything we can to make sure that Solly stays inside at all costs. When he is in there, if you look at his tape from a year ago, when he's inside and solely inside, he's a very, very effective football player. Made a lot of plays for us last year inside and so our intent is to try to keep him in there, because you're right. That's where he excels the most. Hopefully just by the fact that we have more defensive ends to withstand injury where it takes two, three, four injuries before Solly ever has to step out there. We have a chance to keep him inside for the entire season.

There have been plenty of bad players in a SB. Having Thomas on the roster doesn't make Bosa, Buckner, AA and Ford suddenly terrible. Those guys got us there not Solly. And it will be Kinlaw going forward.

Sounds like he's looking really good in camp: let's see if it carries over to the season

Yup. Hoping against hope, and always optimistic about our team and our players.
