Even if Thomas has a magical breakout season it won't be enough for him to get an extension. It'll just mean maybe a better compensatory pick, and somebody else to overpay him in FA
Hmm idk if I agree with the statement of he won't get an extension, but you may be right that someone will overpay him.
I think it will be OK either way, because I'm thinking they will go DLine with the first pick in next year's draft anyway.

On NFLXM today, Christian McCaffrey's mother complained that McCaffrey's friend, Solomon Thomas, got his mother a Tesla, while mccaffrey only got his mother a golf cart.

It's infuriating an we should put as much blame on them as Solomon Thomas. Especially after all he went through and being behind in the first place
We played Jimmy award out of position as well. He at his natural spot an look the guy ends up getting 28 million from us.
This x 1000. We waste years of our players lives doing this stupid stuff.

Except this isn't completely accurate. Did he play 100% inside over the 3 years, no, but he also didn't play 100% outside and was given many opportunities inside and did nothing with it. In fact, there were times I seen him get absolutely ragdolled and thrown to the ground, so I better understood why they tried him outside instead

Truth. He played a ton inside last season before Blair got hurt. Nobody noticed because he didn't do anything.
He's been given ample opportunity. He hasn't done squat. Speaking of Blair, he's bounced around inside and outside and has found ways to make plays everywhere. No excuses.

I'm hoping David keeps us posted on the leading D-Lineman that would be in the Shanahan crosshairs. I'm also hoping we draft 32'nd.

Yep at this point I think we can see where this regime values high end talent. The dline is among the top of that list. As long as Kyle is here I look for that to always be a point of emphasis... keeping that area of the team stacked with talent.

He is a good teammate. What is he supposed to say, "he is the biggest bust I've ever seen, the definition of "tweener" that doesn't have a real role, and yo-yos his weight ever year"
Other than McCaffrey, DeCastro, Baldwin, and Sherman, what players have come out of Stanford in the Harbaugh and Post era? We blew two first rounders (Garnett, Thomas) on The Farm.

The obvious reason why Kyle invests in the DLine is because it's a passing league now. Almost every rule favors the offense at the expense of the defense. Even if you get a shut down corner like Deion Sanders nowadays, he'd be called for pass interference on a regular basis - causing a lot of first down conversions. But, if you knock the pass down or the passer, there is no pass interference etc...
David, I think your 2021 college scouting is going to be really hampered by some of the college football conferences cancelling out their season due to the communist plague. How are you going to scour the the college DE's and give us a good scouting report with all that stuff preventing you from seeing the players play?
