who defended him?
Don't make me pull up that one poster lol. Clearly related to Thomas.
so one poster = fanbase?
You asked "who defended him?"
I was answering that question. Nice try.
No, Aj said it was the fanbase, which is just wrong. So there's no reason to defend that with, well one poster said so.
It would be like me calling out our fanbase because billbird said that Trent isn't worth a lot of money and wont get paid.
nope.
"Who defended him?" Is a specific question and I gave you an answer.
I'm not defending his statement. The fan base as a whole was clearly mixed in their support of him as a player.

I don't think these are the same group. At least I hope no one is defending Thomas but wants Jimmy gone.

Also, its great that this is in NFL talk. Best of luck to Thomas. I hope he gets it together because he is a good guy. I doubt he does. I was backing him until the 2019. With the Raiders, they aren't long on D-line talent, so if he can't come in and start, that doesn't bode well for him.

Couldn't agree more. Candidate for worst pick of my lifetime.
Then you haven't been a fan for very long.
ST was a huge bust but if you think he was bigger than Jenkins or Balmer or whoever the f*ck that guard was from Stanford… it's just buying into group think.
They were all monumental busts… at least ST got on the field. Jenkins man… putting a name in an envelope a day early and having the ego to think he was the one… that easily overrides having a class with a dude.
At least do some research before saying "worst pick of a lifetime" lol.

Comparing this bust to them is no where close to the magnitude of the Solomon Thomas pick. We picked him
3rd overall in a draft class that featured Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson when we desperately needed a qb.

ST was 50-50 on us and on him. We put a 3 tech at a DE position and assumed he'd be Justin Smith 2.0, knowing we already have AA and Buckner at those positions. We also changed his DL coach 2 years into his career.
For ST, he just wasn't that great at the edge or interior. He's a bust, but I also recognize his personal trauma is a profound factor. Sucks he's gone, but I still hope he does well.

People arent getting this. Its not the fact that guys like Jenkins were complete ass while ST actually started games. What makes it such a bad pick is that even if he was a decent player, the Niners didnt even need him. The niners Dline was probably their strongest unit at that point in time. But what really pushes him to that "worst" category is the Niners most glaring need was QB and we passed on Mahomes and Watson. Im not even mad at the Mahomes pick becasue he was so raw but I absolutely fault them for not taking Watson. ST is a monumental bust when you break it down like that.

Solomon Thomas was not the best but he was not the worst by a long shot. Here's a list of first and second round picks that were way worse
Balmer
Rachel
Foster
Jenkins
Pettis
Mays
James
Tank
Garnett

The question wasn't that he was the worst player.. the question was "is ST the worst draft pick". And the answer is, yes.
