If you strictly look at performance, sure.

If you take other things into consideration, such as draft positon (which CANNOT be overlooked), what we passed on, etc. it is absolutely the worse pick of my lifetime.

I'd take a Solomon Thomas 3 again over Woods, Jenkins, and Balmer at 29-31. I'd take him over the Nolan and Singletary era of Alex Smith too.

This is like saying you'd rather eat s**t with a little salt on it ,over eating the s**t as is

Never understood why people root for former Niners when they were a massive disappointment/busts for us. But you guys do you.

It was a two-way street, IMO. He was not a good system fit and Saleh/Shanahan were not willing/able to modify the system to fit his skill set. Hence, a lot of the blame falls on those who made the decision to draft him in the first place. I can't call him a bust just because he was drafted into the wrong system. Too many other draft pundits rated him highly to believe he does not have the potential to do well in the right system. We shall see. For now, I am happy for the young man.

Sure. Whatever the reason may be, the player simply was no good for us. I would think that would yield more resentment than being fans. Me personally, I will forever be bitter it didnt work out with us, but not bitter enough to hate on him. If he has success, good for him. But I also will not be actively rooting for a player who was horrible for us, and that is where I dont understand. Niner fans are actively rooting for a player who was bad for us AND is a Raider. I will never do that.

Not sure about you but I root for him because I thought he had potential but the coaching staff here simply F'd him over since the moment they drafted him which DJ asks the right question...why did we draft him with a top 3 pick if we weren't going to evolve the system to suite his strengths. I have similar concerns for Trey.

This. Great guy and hard worker whos had his share of life's downs for sure, but we asked him to play a position that wasn't his strength in a scheme that didn't promote his success.... for years... lol His succes with the Raiders shows that our coaches aren't all knowing sages to be blindly followed.

Interesting you say that about Trey....I certainly have more hope with Kyle on offense with a QB he can mold than a defender.... Time will tell.

Trey lance was a running qb in college. Are we going to try and force him to evolve into a pocket passer that works within the rules of system like Kyle has done most of his career or are we going to let him use that athleticism and ad lib like other successful running qbs in the NFL?

It's just a concern.

Agreed, I wanted Fields, but admitted Lance was sexy with massive upside, aka he was a project. Well the project is under way! lol

I don't remember him using that spin move once with us. Oh well, good luck to him, he's a good guy it just didn't work out.
He's probably not playing out of position with the Raiders to so that helps

Why are you mad? Thomas is a good guy and he was shown the door, he didn't leave on bad terms. Hope for nothing but good things for him, except when he plays against the Niners.

Meh he just cleans up what the good rushers do. He's still the same guy.

Nassib was on the edge. That was indeed Solomon Thomas smoking the guard with a sweet spin move.

"Thomas is a good guy"

You can be a completely garbage player that set the same team that had high expectations for you back, but as long as you're a "good guy" it's perfectly fine

I blame the setbacks on coaching. We never should have drafted him if we were going to force him on the edge. Solly was a NT in college.
And yet we still play armstead outside
