back up at strictly off tackle with Tank back up at strictly end if I guessed. NT will be Mitchell and probably Purcell or Jones.

I don't understand this mentality at all...we are switching defenses...we need more D-lineman than ever.
I love the pick. Highest rated DL against the run. Great personality and leader.
The real winner here is Buckner. Thomas will need special attention and a 6'7" 300 lb Leo Armstead may give teams some pause.... that leaves Buckner 1 on 1. I expect Buckner to surpass last years sack numbers before our bye week. Teams will refocus on Buckner by that point, just in time for Thomas to hit his stride. 10+ sacks for both Thomas and Buckner is a possibility.

I think Buckner and Thomas will complement each other really well. They both bring different physical talents and skillsets, together they are going to be problematic for offenses to handle.

The 3 technique is designed for 1-1 looks anyways. Where Thomas will really help out is freeing up the crashing ends like Avril, Clark and Irvin once we get them and I think we can play Thomas at leo and stunt him with Buckner for some success too.

AA at Leo is a gigantic mess. Just rotate him with Thomas and Buckner.
The only thing that worries me about drafting the top D-linemen in this draft is that there wasn't a O-linemen drafted in the top 10 in this years draft.

In other words who did these linemen dominate?
I'm worried about his 'Tweener status, but still excited about the pick. With Buckner and Mitchell, it seems certain (I think) that Thomas will be playing edge, either Leo or strong side.

But whats odd to me on that set up is if we use Justin Smith as the ideal comparison, Smith would have been a DT in a traditional LEO defense.

So a lot of questions about how we are going to use our players and line them up.

We need to fill
2 Gap DE
3 Tech
NT - Seems certain this is Mitchell's spot
LEO

Buckner seems certain to be the 3-Tech, although I guess he could also be the 2 Gap DE

Armstead is similarly also either a 2 Gap DE or 3 Tech

Solomon brings a lot more versatility and although ideally I think he would be a 3 Tech in this defense, we'd probably instead play him as a 2 Gap DE. He could also potentially play at LEO, but I think that would be limited until we have pass rush specialist we trust there.

I think for year 1 what we will see is a lot of flexibility and shifting between AA/Buckner/Thomas based on situation and personnel of the other team. But in the future I think AA is essentially done with the team and we will be focusing next on finding a LEO to put out there with Thomas/Mitchell/Buckner
we need a fast DE today or tomorrow and we have a monster line. buck is a beast, arik is good when healthy and Sol is pretty dominant as well. with Bow and Foster (playing OLB next to Bow?) we have a legit front 7 already, with a couple more pieces they could be something special. watching the young guys on the secondary develop and hopefully adding a CB like King today would be amazing. a lot easier on the CBs if these guys can stop the run and produce some pressure up front
you guys can continue discussing base...

I am more excited for sub. I can't wait to see Defo at 3t and Solomon either mirrored at 3t or at 1t.

Nobody on our roster had this type of explosive get off and ability to get skinny. Solomon gives interior OL fits because of how explosive he is.

The power in his hands.

Solomon was the first prospect that gave me second thoughts about Myles Garrett being the best player in the draft. My posts in the Solomon thread vouch for me.

Do you think we will play Thomas at 3T? I mean it is the best spot for him in the defense. But then does Buckner play end? Or maybe Buckner plays strong side End Thomas plays 3t?

Yes, he will definitely play 3t in sub. Both him and Defo. We will use a lot of double 3t packages in sub.

Anyone else kind of feel the same way?
You'd rather him be a drunk and knock over people's mailboxes during the offseason?

You'd rather have him beat his pregnant girlfriend?

WTF kind of question is this. Watch interviews of this guy. People says he's a totally different personality on the field than off of it. He's a real man that grew up with a father, so he knows how to act.

He's not one of these punk-ass thugs raised by his mother or grandmother that doesn't know how to treat people. He had a man put a foot up his ass when he needed it growing up.
Sol is gonna wreck little Willow and if he gets past him, Foster is going to decapitate him. im loving this draft so far
