Would be so awesome if we get Bosa or Q plus a late first or early second and only give up ST.

Did you know Thomas was going to have the issues he went thru last year or that Foster was going to be an off field problem? If you did can you tell me when the stock market is going to start falling? No way anyone could see those things happening. Bad luck is more like it.

I think he would excel in SEA. They know how to get players to produce. That's about the main area of Pete's faking and lying really helps: maximizing player potential. JH is good at this too.

The Solomon pick was, at the time, labeled the safest pick in the draft. High motor, high character, smart kid. Almost all the mock drafts had him going to us including ESPN. Don't be history revisionists. It was deemed a smart, widely accepted pick at the time.
The Foster pick was unanimously labeled the steal of the draft and early on we thought it too. He had Pro Bowl written all over him.
Sometimes picks don't work out. Sometimes people flake out. That's the name of the game. Do I wish they would both have turned into All-Stars for us? YES!
Am I mad at Lynch because they didn't? No. Neither was a reach or considered, at the time, a bust.
Now moving forward...DO BETTER LYNCH! Let's go!
Nonsense. Their job is to get it right and not pick the Solomon Thomas and Fosters of the draft. You're the one revising history, I'm saying they got it wrong and I expect results and accountability.

Let's just say a lot of us weren't surprised when ST didn't produce and Foster got in trouble.

i think 5th,, a fourth would be wonderful

Ya, that's kinda where I'm at. I'm thinking he's nearing the point were his redundancy coupled with nothing special makes his main value in roster spot lies in the first round investment. Not good reason to keep someone around.

i would love to dump aa. but we know by now,. for some reason. aa and ward have permanent job security here. but if our d line coach . who i think will be very good, was a factor , maybe he said. dump thomas?

I'm thinking an early 3rd is the best we can get for him

And how many 1st rd picks and draft picks overall did the last regime blow? Pretty much all of them except Buckner are gone. So he missed on Thomas and Foster, he has hit more than he has missed so far.
This franchise fell way before Lynch and Shanahan got here, stop acting like Lynch is the problem, when we had dysfunction since the Baalke/Harbaugh era.

What this tells me is that they were honest when they said they'd listen to Kocurek's evaluations of all their DL personnel. I suspect he just doesn't think Thomas is ever gonna turn the corner, and when you are almost certainly guaranteed to improve the DL with either Bosa or Williams it's unlikely Thomas will get on the field much, so better to get something for him in return than the nothing you will get in 2-3 years.

And that he liked Blair and AA more too.

Trading him doesn't seem like a good move, unless we get like a 1st round pick in return. He showed a lot of promise as an interior lineman, and many players take that 3rd year leap, he may really increase his trade value. But this rumor makes me think the 49ers know they are getting QW, and have given up on ST as a DE (which is understandable).
But having depth at DL is great. Solly, Buckner and QW could have a 3 man rotation at DT.

We'd be lucky to get a 5th rounder. What a terrible draft pick
