Is Solly taking snaps with the 1st or 2nd string? I'm hoping he turns it around seeing how he was the third pick in the draft.

They have said Ward (in the past) was the best DB in the eyes of the staff...they haven't said they agree or disagree with it...That's reporting, not forming opinions based off being bias (which unfortunately he is).

If you think grant is actually good at evaluating players, along with being a QB/WR/DL coach then for sure listen to him....thing is, I sure as s**t don't think he is. He acts like he's some football god when he's talking and it's a load of poop most of the time...His snickering and condescending attitude is unbearable.

When all of the reporters are reporting the same thing, I'll put much more stock into it...when one guy is trying to act like he's some qb coach pointing out mechanics as why JG isn't throwing the long ball well, that's a totally separate thing. Love to see Grant's resume as a QB coach lol.

Meh, I don't know how Barrows (he's my favorite) is now because I won't pay for anything associated with Kawakami but he left for additional freedom. I'm assuming he's a little less tow-the-line now. I miss that guy.

But I'm not talking about locals saying receivers dropped a bunch of passes on a day. I'm saying they probably aren't going to be a little reactionary to potential issues. I used the Bowman-Sherman examples. Sadly, you're not going to hear about that from anyone else.

Don't get me wrong, I love Maiocco and Biderman and the local crew. But they have a job to do and orders to follow and things to check off before writing about it or speaking on it. What the locals cover often is each other's theme for the week; playing off their own stories. They huddle together and collectively plan together the topics. You'll see 5 articles come out all on the same topic at the same time referencing their own source (and it's usually each other). It's choreographed.

I wish there was a Maiocco out there who just reported/video what he sees especially the concerns, about the things most don't want to touch because it's too early, don't have enough info, haven't been cleared, etc. Just tell us what you see and preference it if you need too.

Matt Barrows is local and about as objective as it comes and has been around for years.

Bingo.

But to clarify, yes, Maiocco did make it clear "they" think that. Naturally, he's not going to state his own thoughts on Ward because it would have the same negative spin we'd all put forth in rational fashion. And that too is my point. Biderman though...I've never heard anyone talk more about Ward. He may actually believe it. LOL
here yall go again killing a thread talking about a guy you hate.

Lol stop. Barrows was NEVER a tow the line guy
What's your issue with TK?
Also I don't get it. Cohn has a job to do and is a beat writer and he s**ts all over them. Yet he still gets his access. Why ?

I think some might have a few issues with the guy.

1. That's why he was my favorite (plus he cracks me up). But you're kidding yourself if you think he still didn't have a company line to tow. Not that that line was to spin positivity but the narrative his company wanted...hence the additional creative freedom at the Athletic and he's talked about that openly.
2. TK is a b***h. Everyone knows that. Being a more talented writer doesn't absolve him of being a b***h. He just incites at a different level and then blocks everyone who calls him out on his B.S. Your kind of guy, right? LOL
3. Cohn is just a whole other topic. My original point is you can find something in everything if you don't get blinded by hate or love. But yeah, given his, er, position, it's safe to say he can do whatever he wants (videos, Periscope, YouTube, incite, fight with fans on Twitter, click-bait, etc.).

1. He's saying the EXACT same stuff now that he was saying while writing for the bee. He left because the bee was laying off everyone within the sports department and because the athletic is s better opportunity
2. Don't disagree at all, but to hate TK and praise Grant seems odd. TK called out the Niners plenty (albeit in a douchy manner) and never towed the company line and knew a thing or 2 about football . But he also ripped Baalke mercilessly for years. So maybe that's it
3. Cohn's position is just like the others. Gets the sane access, gets the same pressers, gets to ask the same questions. Just because he goes on periscope (which btw guys like JD and others have talked about how when he tries to break down players on film it's clear he has no clue what he's talking about) or writes columns where talks a bunch of s**t doesn't mean he's somehow more real than the others. I hear those other guys say plenty of negative things about the 49ers. But because they report what is being told to them (Ward is most likely getting resigned...because he is lol) they are shills.

1. Wait, you have a subscription to the Athletic? Don't hold out on us, man. Give us the MB cliff notes. I'll take your word on it.
2. Praise Grant? That's how you interpreted my overall point? Oops.
3. I fully agree. Not sure why people are overly obsessed with talking about him and his access but to each his own. I never said the locals don't report negative stuff. Not sure why you struggle understanding my original points but I'm here to respond to you either way. Haha.

Yes they have a job to report things...good or bad. I don't understand why they have to tip-toe around and Grant doesn't? They all work for different papers/websites or for NBC sports (including Grant for Press Democrat in Santa Rosa). The only dude that has any reason to sugar coat anything is Joe Fann because he's hired by the 49ers.

They ALL get access to the same practices/pressers. You have no idea if they all huddle up and say "okay let's just talk about this, so we don't get in trouble by the team." That's a HUGE reach IMO and to use that to say Grant is some white knight who's throwing the truth out there (which is kinda what it sounds like you're doing) is a load of crap IMO. They all write about the same s**t BECAUSE they're ALL at the same practice/game.... they have the same sources because they're all there reporting what they're hearing.

Grant acts like he's a football savant and has some great football resume that makes him an expert...which simply isn't true. He's basically a WZer that has a platform and a pass. IF and only IF I hear s**t from more than one reporter about something do I put stock into it.

I have no idea why you keep backing up this turd and his bias opinions.

Huh? what do you mean bingo?

I'm not sure what you think a reporters job is to do .....their job is to report the facts NOT have some bias opinion on something. Grant is NOT a reporter. He's a turd that get's a pass & platform to talk about football. He's more skip Bayless then and actual reporter. It would basically be the same as if you or I went to a open practice then talked about it (which maybe we should!)

Personally I don't value his football "smarts" enough to read his stuff.

There is a difference between reporting facts and stating opinion. In this day and age, a lot of former reporters have become opinion writers just so they can get more ink. Whether people love them or hate them they're getting hits on their websites. That's all some of them want.
My sources say that Grant has an STD but he's still a virgin.

Yup, this is where people need to distinguish the difference.

When's the last time you saw Grant break a story? When's the last time he interviewed someone? He's not a very good journalist imo and is writing is meh.

He basically puts down a good/bad list and does some periscope stuff. I just think it's funny that people actually listen to him like he's some established football mind

Like I keep saying he's basically a WZer who has a platform & a pass. I put Cohan in the Ryan "beastwriter" Sakamoto class as far as SF reporters go.
