The more time to dwell the more I love this pick.

Im not saying that Witherspoon will develop the same way Sherman did and/or be as good of a player, but they have similar measurables if not better. Get him in the weight room, on the jugs machine, and on the sled and ....

The film room too. If only to learn the QBs and receivers in his division. Truth be told, if I were a draft pick, I probably would have watched every game of the teams in my division in before training camp, along with learning the playbook of course.
I really don't care if he's soft against the run, that's not what he's out there for.

Ahkello Witherspoon had 13 pass breakups in 2016, tied for most in the country. #49ers
You know, I read different websites and even NFL.com had contradictory information in regards to PBUs on him.

It said in one part of the bio
He tied with teammate Tedric Thompson with a nation-leading 23 passes defensed on the year (one INT, 22 PBU)

then later
His 2016 completion percentage against was just 26.5. Tied for second in nation in passes defensed with 20.

PFF said it was I believe 31%, still a good number. I read up on the guy when it was brought up before the draft that the niners were looking at this guy closely. Need to watch his videos. The guy was crazy good in the highlights especially in the redzone when teams tried to do a quick slant at the goal line. Looked like when the wr made a cut to the inside they had a step, but he was on them and batted down the passes easily-they showed it four times (not sure if the video was for one season though). His feet are quick for a guy his size. Good in a jump balls too, s/b 40" vertical. was forth among CB in the 60 shuttle and runs a quick 40 at 4.45, the knock is his tackling and run support and they felt he should have come up with more intercepts (but he is always around the ball to make the plays).

Plus he is skinny at 198. The other was that he wants to become a pre-med, so is he dedicated to the game. Kind of like former 49ers TE John Frank, who retired early, though has going to be a surgeon. He is young as far as experience in the game of football, he is talented enough to play pro soccer and baseball, which accounts for his good footwork (although there was one sight that said he tends to lean to far back in his back peddle) and eye hand coordination

If he doesn't work out at CB, he may be a good candidate for the free saftey position, good feet, fast enough, and good change of direction plus his defense radius is great. I like this pick. He will shine, maybe not start this year, but he will get on the field and be solid, maybe even pro bowl.
Robinson and Witherspoon will be our starters for years to come!

Can't wait!
Very excited to see how he develops in his first two seasons. It is on him and the coaching staff if he doesn't turn out to be a really good player. All that raw talent and physical gifts are already there...now it's mental and work ethic.

He's 6'3 and had the quickness and agility to mirror Ross . In theory Ross should be his kryptonite but he mirrored him

Perfect fit for our scheme

He really is. Man, we now have two starting 6'3" CB's and a 6'2" depth CB in DJ. And this now solidifies Ward moving to FS and staying there with Tartt/Reid competing at SS. I absolutely love it. I had us taking him at our own pick at #34 so to get him at #66 is amazing.

Solomon, Foster and Witherspoon, we got ridiculous value in esp. when you throw in all the extra high picks for next year added on.

And anyone questioning Kyle on finding a QB who can play within his offense needs to check himself (no matter where he was taken).

Thank you NC!! Nice to see you in here with a breath of reality.

I love the pics so far. Witherspoon will fit in nicely. I watched a lot of those games and he was stout. He's got such a high ceiling.
Plus we certainly have put ourselves in a position to crush next year again especially the first rd. We now have ammo to move into the first round again.

He did mirror Ross good and he also had a solid game vs Ju Ju.

There's a common theme so far....&,most of the zone is missing on it. High Football IQ players.

Big time upside as a cover corner. He lacks physicality, still growing into his frame and needs to develop the mindset. He can compete for a sub-package role right away like we did in the past with Culliver and Robinson. Line him up outside on passing downs.
