Xavier Rhodes is a really good tackler. And pre game receivers are deciding what kinda jelly they are gonna have with their burnt toast they are about to have with Rhodes.

Yeah that's why he's considered elite. But if his coverage drops off but he stays a good tackler would you still want him on the field vs the best receiver in the game? (Michael Thomas)
He still needs to wrap up on his tackles. Played well in coverage but still can't tackle to save his life.

Agreed. But wrapping up isn't easy as fans we can say it like it is. But when your trying to wrap up a 200+ pound man pounding into your 180 pound self it's hard to hold on. If you don't have the upper body strength which Akello clearly doesn't.

It's not always about upper body strength, you also need lower body strength to drive your hips up and through your opponent after you wrapped up. Breakdown, hit with lower pad level, wrap up and drive your hips up through the runner. With proper technique you can tackle guys that are much bigger than you. Not as easy as saying it but with practice and a heart willing to do it, it can be fixed. Tannehill just took down a 300 plus defender with textbook tackling this past weekend. Not always about size.

I'm just talking about wrapping up not tackling. Most tackling is through the legs but actually wrapping up has a lot to do with upper body strength
He's gonna have to step it up now. I guess Sherman is out for the rest of the regular season?

Wrapping up is part of tackling.

And if someone doesn't have the upper body strength to wrap up they will struggle to tackle. Doesn't matter about your technique. Still need to have the requisite strength to withstand the initial contact

The pass breakup he had on a 3rd & 7 to hold NO to a field goal following the interception was an excellent play. No way he makes this play last season. This season he is reading the QB's drop and reacting accordingly. He read Brees' quick drop and jumped the curl.

Also, read the 3rd down deep shot to Thomas perfectly. Did the same vs Adams a few weeks prior against GB.

Looks like he just got a little too aggressive on Thomas TD. Need to see the coaches film to see what happened there.

The best part is after a few snaps back of keeping his head forward, I've noticed he's stayed in phase AND getting his head around. I wonder if Woods spotted that as a coaching point. He's fast enough where he should be in phase every time.
