You can tell he's probably a bit uncomfortable with tackling, which was his knock at Colorado. Regardless, this dude is NAILS in coverage. He doesn't bite, doesn't fall for the double move. He's got great instincts.

What's interesting is that if it's a quick out and he recognizes it, he's a good tackler. If he hesitates just a bit or has to tackle around bodies on the move, he's a forearm tackler...and it's ugly. Business decision. EMan and Sherman are much more fearless and even, eager, if you will.

Also, read the 3rd down deep shot to Thomas perfectly. Did the same vs Adams a few weeks prior against GB.
Looks like he just got a little too aggressive on Thomas TD. Need to see the coaches film to see what happened there.
Yeah that 3rd down deep shot he played it well. Didn't fall for the head fake and stayed in position.
On the touchdown he gave up to MThomas, Spoon was to play with outside leverage since he had help to the inside. Thomas simply out muscled Spoon at the top of the route and used his arm to shove Spoon towards the inside, that's where Spoon lost outside leverage and lost on the Corner route.

That's gonna happen Vs a great receiver tbh

Yeah, that's exactly what happened. Have to be careful with someone as physical as Thomas. But overall he held his own with Thomas all game long when matched up with him.
Excited to see him against Julio on Sunday.

He's got to learn to wrap up instead of his usual shoulder tackle.

I thought he covered really well. Tackling has always been a negative on him. People remembering the negative plays and are forgetting his smothering coverage on the 2 point conversion.
people complaining about a CB not tackling well I mean you want everyone to tackle well, but name of the game is coverage NOT tackling with a CB.
It's like knocking a QB for not running well or an OLB for their coverage skills. Those things are great, but aren't the first or second thing you look for. With that said, Witherspoon has come a long way from the guy who was totally frustrated last year. I am happy to see his emergence.

...and the hit wasn't THAT dirty, really.
Tried to lay the body in and missed like he did several times that night.
Looked like the real damage Cook took was from hitting the ground, and Spoon only changed Cook's path of travel en route.

Never questioned his ability tbh. Always knew he'd be a solid CB with more experience.

the guy comes back from injury and all he's done is give up plays... for some reason, our D suddenly looked average w/him in the lineup..
