But FWIW Eric Crocker agreed with Saleh:
Fwiw PFF agrees with everyone else that Mosely has been the better cb.
Not arguing who is the better corner here but if we are using those PFF numbers we should not overlook context. AW had 4 starts late in the year where we were without Ford and a lot of the DL depth which in turn affected the pass rush, which wasn't having the same level of success as earlier in the year.
Fans need to keep in mind that Kyle can overrule the decision on who should start opposite Sherm and has chosen not to.
Spoon has been in position but to say he played a pretty good football game is toting the line and disingenuous. Thats not even from a arm chair coaching perspective of the uninformed like Saleh wants us to think.
For one... he got pulled, thats the niners own DC finally saying get him out of there. More importantly just look at who they went at whenever Seattle needed a big play. Wilson straight up stares down Spoon half the time and doesnt take his eyes off the route Spoon is matched up against on a few plays. (The play before the lynch TD and Metcalfs TD that counted) He knows that at some point their is going to be a window to get the ball to his guy.
Spoon rarely plays the ball anymore and when he does he often gets caught out of position, (See the TD he gave up that got called back on the Iupati hold). Now that could of been broken coverage by Harris but Spoon is playing in the same zone as Warner with no defender occupying it rather than underneath Metcalf with Harris supposed to be over the top Maybe? otherwise it looks even worse for Spoon. Wilson figured out its his lowest risk pass since either his guy is gonna make the play or its going incomplete knowing the defender isnt looking. On the Lockett TD, Wilson was doing his midget things and he got caught in between trying to look back and trying to box out like defending a inbound pass in basketball, so that one was just a tough play.
I will stick up for Spoon in saying Harris sucks at coverage and is responsible for some of the breakdowns, maybe spoon started trying to do too much or think too much. Because the difference from the start of the season to now is that he is stuck in reaction mode, he's not anticipating, he's not being aggressive, he's playing afraid of giving up a big play. He's a phenomenal athlete and will always be in decent position but without the anticipation and confidence to be aggressive, being in position is not enough in the NFL as we are seeing. E-man has that aggressiveness still and IMO that has been one of the biggest differences in their play.
