NinerBuff, where are you? Did you weigh in yet on Witherspoon being drafted by the Niners? I'm asking because I'm sure you watched every Colorado football game last season and I, like many Niner fans, did not...what are your overall thoughts? What were you thinking while watching him play...hopefully, "the Niners need to draft him"?

So what's the update on him. Are they working on toughening him up? Isn't he soft and doesn't tackle hard?

Should've been a wr if he don't like tackling . 6"3 and a 4.45 40 and a really smart guy

A lot of CBs are CBs because they couldn't catch.

I can take a stab at this considering I am also a Buff and watched every game. Hopefully my fellow Buff weighs in also.
He oozes rough potential. If he was more refined and aware of plays he probably would've been a first rounder. He got "beat" too often because his awareness isn't there yet but his speed, fluidity and length allowed him to recover and why I think he had so many passes defensed. With better coaching and skills he can be deadly in the interception game because he rarely got beat just on pure athleticism.
Also, I think Chidobe is a better corner now because he was more aware and you saw him blowing up several plays because he stuck his nose into everything... making stiff tackles, attacking players behind the line and being in the face of receivers. Witherspoon could be better overall in time.

Great feedback - thank you! This is why I come to the 'Zone! I just watched about two Colorado games last year and he did stand out. I like his potential with some quality coaching from the Niners, as you mention. Did you watch closely his game vs. John Ross at UW? If so and given the talent/speed Ross has, what were your thoughts?

Surprised how well he did against him in coverage because I was thinking Ross would tear them up. This is all off memory but I'm pretty sure he was in coverage on Ross's biggest play that went for a td on a tipped pass that could've also gone the other way for a td if Witherspoon came away with it. It would've been a lucky play for either side.

This guy has three good years to offer or three concussions, whichever comes first. Then he'll become Dr. Witherspoon.

Again, great info - much appreciated. Looking forward to seeing Witherspoon at CB and hopefully making an impact sooner than later for the Niners.
