I disagree on being soft is the issue. Pettis was soft too last year but he was an effective receiver. Witherspoon was soft too in the beginning of the season but he play great football in that stretch of games before he got injured. They were both "soft" when they play good football, thus I don't think being "soft" are the issues for these 2 players. The same can be said for Witherspoon's ball skills.

I do think perhaps natural confidence and/or EQ are the issues.

"Soft" is thrown around a lot and it's far from a perfect observation of a player as I can only go off on limited information and what I see. But what concerned me about Pettis going into the league and why I was surprised we drafted him, let alone in the 2nd round, is because he just doesn't have the physical stature to make it in this league. I know he played decent his first year, but I figured once the league knows they can simply be physical with him, that's what happened and he's not tough enough to push through that. Why he started off good but quickly trailed off once the going got a bit tougher. He's too skinny, doesn't seem to work on that aspect of his body or maybe that's just his natural max. Combine that with his quirky attitude and you have a non football player in my eyes.

Contrast that with someone like Deebo.

Mahomes looks fully healthy now, the first game was his first game back from injury. Titans defense is good but not elite and certainly not capable of shutting down KC. They won't be a turnstile like Houston but I expect KC to put up 30+.

I think what these playoffs have shown is that the patriots run really has come to an end and maybe Brady too. That offense couldn't do s**t. And Lamar, he's still got a long ways to go as an efficient passer.

Ehh, I wouldn't go that far. They'll easily reload with some key additions that will help them. Their weakest areas are clearly WR/TE on offense. Their defense is still quite good. Edelman is their only playmaker until others either step up or develop.

So you don't think Brady has significantly declined? I know he can still be "good" but I think a reason why their offense suffered so much was b/c they lost Gronk, and you don't just replace Gronk. Their defense is good, but you saw them regress when they faced stiffer competition. Their historic level was mostly the result of playing a soft schedule. They were very mediocre the second half of the season, it wasn't just a blip.

The problem is Belichick has done a horrible job at drafting wide receivers. Part of that is because they always draft late but he always seems to prefer getting them in free agency. Brady has definitely dropped off a little. Even last year he was not as dominant as he has been. How many more years can he play?

They may not be dominant, but they still have enough talent to win. Brady reportedly was playing through injuries too, so it's hard to say exactly how much better they could be next year. I guess I'm hesitant to count them out.
His short career thus far seems to be hot/cold. He'll have stretches where he looks really good and then have stretches where he doesn't look too good.

I guess that's life of a corner. If you think about it they are all alone in space and every mistake they make gets amplified and is probably a TD for the other team. No other position is like that.

Maybe he'll be a guy that ends up playing safety if he can't improve his ability to break up the pass as a corner.

Gotta give him his props though. Just heard Shanahans presser where he said Akhello volunteered himself to take emans snaps on special teams.

Don't know how well he did at that but it definitely takes some maturity to do something like that.

I saw him running down field on a kick coverage. He didn't make any big plays, but he was running hard & looked like he was in good position.

One thing for sure - we now have the coaches that can make him better.

If he can't improve w/them then it may be a wash.
This fool starting again?

They now have a lot of mobile quarterbacks to go past and good teams. In their own division Bills and in the conference Chiefs, Ravens, Titans, and even Pittsburgh coming back.

Good suggestion.
