I just hate the fact, Kyle said "Hoyer will be number 1"

Like dam Kyle can you give CJ a chance 1st in camp before resulting in this premature conclusion?

As other posters have noted, Kyle's offense is sooo complex that it takes years just to learn it much less master it. Don't worry in year 5 CJ will get to Schaub and Hoyer's understanding of Shanny's O. By then the defense should be rolling as well so we'll be set for a decade plus.

Kyle's offense is a WCO. It usually takes 1 or 2 years to fully install and by year 3 if it's the same QB you'll be rolling. However, Matt Ryan looked pretty damn comfortable in year 2 as did Schwab in Houston in year 3. This isnt just a Kyle offense thing, this is a any offense worth a s**t type thing (WCO, Air Coreyll, Erhardt-Perkins).
Giving this kid a 3 year window before we draft another mid guy to compete.

We'll be drafting a QB round one 2018 if Cousins doesn't happen.

Cousins is a lock. Right now I'm guessing the best WR available at 1 next year.
obviously depending on how things playout in preseason and regular season next year, we have the ammo to trade up in the draft next year to get someone we really want.

We will have our first, second and N.O Saints Second rounder. that is quite a bit of ammo, not including the couple 3's we have.

I think CJ will be surprisingly good.

If Wsh was planning on letting him go you'd think they bring in a qb. He's far, far from a lock.

Take CJ for what he is. At best he'll develop into a backup QB. Just disappointed that they burned a 3rd round pick on him when they could have gone elsewhere.

Absolutely nobody on the planet knows this. He may flop, he may be serviceable as a backup, he may prove a capable starter, he may make the NFL his playground. Nobody knows. Speaking in such absolutes is silly.

Kurt Warner - it doesn't happen a lot, but it happens

Edit: I thought of Warner because he played for Northern Iowa - where I went to school. And CJ played for the University of Iowa and I grew up in Iowa. So I guess I sort of had Iowa on my mind.

I don't know about all that. A lot can happen between now and free agency next year. In anycase with an extra 2nd and 3rd, the 49ers set themselves up decently to move up for a QB next draft if they so desire.

Really? Then why was rg3 able to become rookie of the year and make the probowl year one? Stop talking out of your neck!

He's leaving Washington, I have no doubts about it.

Ehhhh- what if the team finds a better situation by then? I think it's still 50/50

This pick makes total sense. It fits with everything they were doing in FA - bring in players that fit in the system. Some here complained they didn't sign this guy or that guy but "those guys" didn't fit the system. Shanahan knows it takes a while to put it all together and he wants the team to at least be able to execute the concepts even if they don't always win. In the long run, that is the way you build a team.

The worst thing you can do is bring in guys that may be good athletes but don't fit the system. Round pegs don't fit in square holes. We just saw that over the past few years. Shanahan saw it as well and #7 is no longer here.

If we look back at the description of what KS wants in a QB, we see Beatherd. He wants a guy that stands tall in the pocket, processes quickly, a natural thrower, accurate, a good athlete who can move when he must and loves football.

It seems clear the move up to get him was based on how Shanahan viewed him rather than how the rest of the talking heads viewed him. Shanahan liked him a lot based on 2015. In his mind, he knew there was quality there and wanted the kid. He had no way of knowing whether other teams saw him that way or not but he feared others would like him as much as he did and jump in ahead of the 49ers.

In short, Kyle Shanahan got his man.

Well said

thank you
