Characteristics I would rather see in a quarterback than just pure athleticism like we had with Kap! If KS thinks this guy has something he can work with then I'm excited to see it. If we get Cousins next year, then I would be excited to have him and CJ would have somebody to sit and learn under. It can only help to have 2 QB's with similar styles!
i really hope the cousins thing doesnt happen, hes kinda old and he isnt really as amazing as some zoners think. if theyre gonna invest in a qb, develop this dude and draft a great qb next year, take your lumps and have a qb for the next 15 years. cousins is like 30 already
So if he becomes a backup that won't kill us when our starter is down and provides some trade bait, would this pick be considered a failure? I mean look at last year when the raiders traded up for Connor Cook (thank god cause we were supposedly interested in him).

Considering the success rate of low 3rd round picks if the best he does is quality backup then it's definitely a good pick.

If he turns into a quality starter then it's a fantastic pick.

People are totally over reacting because nobody really expected him to go that early and I know a lot of us would've loved Nate Peterman there. But I'll never claim I have a better track record evaluating QBs than Shanahan.

If we made the same move up and "reached" for another position then I'd be a lot more skeptical.

Garoppolo has hardly played and he's already worth multiple picks including a 1st rounder.

I understand the love for peterman, but I don't see him having too much starter potential and if he is he will be alex smith esque. Beathard might not be as loved but he does have the same qualities plus a bigger arm. Backup qbs are an underrated need even if you haven't found your FQB.
We have to keep 3 QB's on the 53 this year.

The feeling still seems like we are holding out for Kirk though....

He's a real smart dude...he was in charge of a lot in that offense (compared to a lot of college QBs) and I see why Kyle went after him. Kid's won some games. He's tough &makes all the calls and protections at the line etc....

I mean if he ends up being the next Brian Hoyer I'm fine with that in a backup....I'll bet money he get's to start at some point this yr cause both our QBs ahead of him are made of glass. Also I'm glad that having him doesn't affect anything in regards to what we do at QB next yr (unless he blows us out of the water).

Trump called him the next Tom Brady.

Hey, everyone said Trump was crazy when he predicted his presidency. Ill take some crazy Trump luck. lol

just read kyle said he was the only qb he would have drafted this year.

So did I.....sadly lost a lot of respect for him...

Hahahahaha...would you please go be a pats fan already

Kyle should've traded up and took Tebow....you need that subset of a subset...you know a FB that can throw a bit.

Why sign Tebow when Bubba Paris is available? Now there's a power running FQB!

Well, technically, he DOES want a wall built up in front of him to keep all the unwanted away from him.
