With Minshew traded to Philly, Beathard is now the back-up to Lawrence. That is about the role envisioned for him in SF. CJ has played very well in PS games.

I know it was pre-season, but what little I saw from Beathard looked pretty freaking good. Was always the more talented QB than Mullens. Maybe he just took a little longer or our system wasn't his best fit, or both.

Thing is, it was proven that SF was going nowhere if Beathard had to play. We know that's also true with Sudfeld, so when they both have the same result, why pay the more expensive one? If Sudfeld plays the season is already over. Same would be true with Beathard.

Came in yesterday when TL went down and went 2/2 for 33 yards. Passer rating of 118. #ELITE
