Lorenzen's still in his peak years

This is HaRoman's ideal QB.

Is that Greg Roman himself?

That's Harbaugh's inner self.
We see a statuesque former NFL QB, but he sees himself as a giant that's always looking for ways to initiate contact.

Pretty tough cat

Well this is pretty telling!

"I was listening to Kyle when he did that," 49ers' GM John Lynch said of Shanahan in an interview with the Talk of Fame Network. "He compared some of his traits. He thought he had an opportunity to be like him.

"Some of those (traits) were his toughness. That stands out on film. He repeatedly stands in there when he knows he's going to get hit and can deliver accurate footballs. Kyle talks a lot with quarterbacks about guys that don't need a lot of space. They don't need to hit you two times and have that space to generate good torque, and C.J. has that as well. We feel like he's very accurate.

"And then the thing I think that reminded (us) … that trait that did give him some hope that he could be like Kirk … was the process. He processes information very quickly. So, when you threw all that together, the more we watched him … (and) we knew we were going to stay away from quarterbacks earlier in the draft; we had too many needs … C.J. became that guy that we really appreciated."

Good read

Agree and am glad they are verbalizing many of the aspects of the QB position that are missed by many fans.
I doubt if Shanahan is thinking, "I got my next Cousins" when he drafted Beathard. I'm sure he would be jazzed if Beathard developed into another Cousins but I think this year he was looking to draft a quarterback in the middle rounds if he could find one that he thought was a "definite maybe" at being something like the next Cousins. And maybe he did, we'll get to see whether Beathard has it in him or not.
Yea I just don't see it with this dude. Hopefully he become a good back up

Hey if the seasons a wash by week 14 let the kid go swing it for fun...might help draft positioning at that point too.

I am not writing him off.
Scott McCloughan on Beathard

"I did a lot of work on the quarterbacks this entire fall, and he reminded me of Matt Hasselbeck," McCloughan said of the former quarterback who spent 17 years in the league. "I thought he's going to be a good player. Day 1? Probably not. But Year 3 you might have a starter right there staring you in the face, which is really cool."

But if we do about as I expect this year, we'll be in a prime position to take Darnold, Allen, or Rosen, and I just can't imagine skipping out on a great QB because you got more value than you hoped for from your 3rd rounder. And plus, he seems like a very good backup QB who can start for you in a pinch. A good backup QB is valuable too.

well no doubt if we are in position to draft a top QB prospect who Shannahan thinks has superstar potential, then yeah you pull the trigger on that QB. If we arent in position to get any of the top QBs, then roll with Beathard. If we end up with two good young QBs, thats a good problem to have.
