Maybe he will be again some day.

I am in heavy prayer with him now to try and sway him our way.

Anybody have news on the workouts? I think they are doing 7 on 7 drills? I read something about that the other day. Man I haven't been this excited about pre-season in two years.

lol don't be disappointed when he comes off the bench looking like a rookie instead of Tom Brady.

Why do I say this....it never fails!!! Lol

As much as i would love for him to be the next great.... He's a 3rd rounder he has About a 2% chance of even getting to one pro bowl.

With that being said I'm gonna hop on the wagon until the wheels fall off
It took Atlanta's season QB to learn th system before looking good. So at the very least he will need two years and won't start looking credible until his third. Using the baseline of Montana and Aaron, the good thing when dealing with things of these nature is that you have a proven OC who can also have the time to develop his QB. We have this with Shanahan and you can be sure he will not rush the QB if he is not ready unless under fire due to injuries..

I could see CJ getting spot plays like Montana did behind Deburg. If we are up by enough points and less than two minutes or if the game is out of hand cause the niners are losing badly. Handing off the ball at first then throwing a couple of short passes to get a feel for the game. Maybe the last game(s) of the season(s).

Here's a quick scouting report with some film breakdown on CJ. Forget that it's done by a seagull fan. It seems like an honest evaluation.

I like the breakdown at 1:29. The results aren't there, but the progression reading is on display.
Progression reading is the key to being a successful NFL QB

That and Talent!

Thank you Thl408, that was really interesting. It will really be interesting how fast CJ can pick up the reads and the coverages in pre-season. I expect him to struggle a lot in pre-season simply because he'll be thinking a lot instead of just going on instinct. Next year is where I think he should progress to a point where in pre-season he can consistently move the ball against opposing defenses.
Montana took a year to get it.

Rookie year is just to watch and learn.

Where you been? It's been awhile. Thing with CJ is with the offense he operated in college and the responsibilities he was given, he can go off instinct and won't have to think as much. He doesn't need to learn how to take a 7 step drop from under center, or callling plays in a huddle, or audibling at the line, or executing these concepts from a non-spread formation, or calling out the Mike, or changing protection, or how to use a checkdown. He just needs to get better at all these things. Some of the QBs coming out have to first be broken down then built back up.

I'm not annointing him. His lack of college production makes it difficult to predict a ceiling. I just think CJ has a good foundation to operate Kyle's offense and is not in the, "he should sit a year and learn" group of QBs.
CJ:- Think Colin Kaepernick. And then think exactly the opposite.

Thanks for posting. I appreciate the objectivity on the areas he needs to work on. But like you said earlier, he's a nice mold for Kyle to work with and already possesses the skills Kyle needs to run this WCO.

His ceiling? We'll just have to see...

We could be dancing on the ceiling.

With regards to the video thl posted:

Part of the issue on timing routes appears to be Beathard's lack of trust in his WRs getting open.

Yeah and on a few of those plays the WR's appeared to be blatantly held from start to finish...total interference...Seattle-like.
There's a certain amount of confidence needed to throw the ball to the right and outside. On a couple of those highlights, CJ turned his head to the right, hesitated, double clutched, then throw the ball. He did all the things you shouldn't do throwing to the right lol

The coaches will fix that for him. More reps.
