Kid's been killing it this pre season.

I liked him last yr once he got going . He was rough around the edges first maybe 8 games and then came on. A lot of what we see now every play...was seen on various plays last yr. This yr we are just getting the "full monte" . The guy is tough , strong, and can hold up an entire OL to get to a RB going horizontal. He is faster , quicker, and stronger than last yr...but the big one...he is NFL smart, learning a bunch last half of 2017. He knows where to be once the play starts. He is an Inside DL but so what? He is great at his position and we got a keeper. Also long termer, which is just dandy .

When you got Buckner who is great inside, Solomon who is great inside, and DJ who is great inside...and AA if he gets healthy is great inside...well , then you start thinking about the inside passrush. Thing is with AA, we got 4 guys who can tear it up...all inside but if Saleh can't make something out of all that talent...then we need someone else.at DC. I think Saleh does fine with his all inside DLs.

Don't forget Julian Taylor this year. They have been doing great in picking up great D Line draft picks. I hope it continues. If they continue to draft great D Linemen - I hope that translates to Edge Rushers next year. It's my hope that next year, their luck/talent in picking D Linemen will get us more than one elite level edge rusher. I'm beginning to come around to NY85's viewpoint that maybe we can wait a year on the pass rush and use our 2019 draft picks for an elite edge rusher. But if ShanaLynch does give up multiple high round picks for a Kalil Mack type of edge rusher - I'm not going to complain.

Some really nice late round finds by this regime.

Two years in a row, if they keep this up, the front office will be raided by desperate teams. I.e. for example - Adam Peters will be the bachelor to all the organizations desperate to marry a sure fire front office talent spotter.

The great thing is, and I'm sure it'll happen at some point, but they'll elevate Lynch to president and promote Peters (or whomever is the best personnel guy) to GM. I mean, that's kind of the structure that's already in place despite the titles.

If a team wants Peters they'll throw a couple of million at him and control of the whole organizations player acquisition program and you'll just have to color him gone, title or no title.

No way. Like Chance said, we'll simply promote both Lynch to President of FO and Peters to GM and pay him accordingly. Adams is at his dream job with his childhood favorite team. In his current role, you'd think he'd get more autonomy in the late rounds to pick 'his' guys (confirmed with Adrian Colbert) and he's crushing these late round picks. His future is VERY bright. And his future is with us.

That's probably the only way you will retain Peters, is to pay him more than what another organization will pay him. He'll go where the money is. Yes, this is his supposed dream job, but all an opposing organization has to do is do the same thing - give him a fancy title and pay him more than we would, and he will be gone. Now most likely *they* would have to pay more than the 49ers would offer simply because this is his preferred place - but pay enough over the 49er/Bay Area premium and we will lose him.

Might make Mitchell expendable, though having a veteran on board is usually helpful. The level of DL players is really much higher than it's been in a long time. Hopefully, Buckner can be close to Justin in playmaking/disruption greatness...fingers crossed!

Agree

If they decide to part ways I hope they can get something in a trade.

A 6th or 7th would be fine as JL/KS do very well in the later rounds.

No, we have plenty of veteran leadership on defense. Mitchell on this roster means Jones' development is retarded again by being inactive on game days. Mitchell is a below average NT now and at 31, even if cut, should still be available later if we need depth. He's the Chris Jones' of NT's at this stage. That said, if you could get anything for him, I'd jump all over it but that's highly unlikely.

All that said, yes, Saleh will probably ensure he's on the roster. LOL

If the team still keeps Mitchell, then it means Mitchell is one hell of a lockeroom leader. DJJ has been good all preseason. He's dominating his 1v1s.

Very solid and consistent game tonight against Chargers.
I don't see Mitchell being cut but I hope DJ gets a lot of playing time.

Agree, he was a brick wall. Great draft pick.
