With the glut on D lineman there's just literally no reason at all to have two NTs on the active 46, so it's not about giving reps or not.

It's really just about only having one NT suited up per game.

I think Jones has definitely shown some promise when he's played and I'd guess AND hope that he'll be replacing Mitchell over the long term, but people are being a little unfair to Mitchell in here too.

He's old and he's a bit overpaid and he's unspectacular, but he's had a good year. Kyle has said as much, and IIRC PFF bears that out too (not really fair to compare Mitchell and Jones by PFF at this point, because Jones' sample size is INSANELY small -- I'm guessing by the end of the year we'll have a better sense).

Couldn't agree more. Jones should get all the reps from here on out.

He should have had them all year long. But Saleh loves his Earl Mitchell.

Yeah Jones has been good for a while. Im not surprised he played well. Hope he keeps it up with an expanded role.
Mitchell is going to be on the train out of town w/Pierre and Malcolm.

Any Others?

Wow that was a great spin move and Harris the rookie got there first. Dam it feels good to be a gansta. This is looking like a great seventh round pick, he needs to start

Jones and Harris were both sixth rounders but both seem to be very promising.

I agree. At least very good depth/borderline starters that could develop into solid starters. Week by week the draft picks keep looking better and better. I wonder how bad Lynch haters are loving this improvement

1. No, we are not.

2. No, he has not.

lol. but seriously Mitchell is the worst NT we have had since I can remember. He just adds nothing to this defense. I'm so done with people trying to defend him and saying he isn't the problem. When FINALLY we start Jones and we have our best defensive game of the year!

I've been calling for him to be benched or us trading for another NT and everyone says no we are fine and we don't need an upgrade. Yet watch us improve drastically with even late-round pick Jones starting over this bum. Probably a good locker room guy but i'm so tired of fans ignoring this position and sticking up for horrible play.

I feel like center and NT are hard to evaluate with all the bodies around them but as I predicted with getting rid of Kilgore, who was single-handedly ruining our run game, we saw a huge improvement with adding Richburg who has just been good. The same will happen for our defense by possibly just letting Jones start. People in here would be amazed at how much Jarrett would help but think he is not worth it.

DJ Jones is a great example of premature trash evaluations by Lynch haters. He gets his opportunity and plays well. Especially for what a 6th round pick?

most of us gave lynch credit for this as well as jimmy and our tight end. the lynch lovers just have a problem with holding lynch accountable for any bad draft picks or free agent people he gets that do not turn out.
