Actually, it's more of an indictment on Saleh. Jones was clearly playing well LAST year and clearly showed more upside than Mitchell. But Saleh loves his 'meh' system-fit veterans.

This is true. I don't think DJ has had a bad game yet. Dude has looked good in every game he's played.

I lost count but Jones' was inactive like 10 of the 13 games this year? Nuts.

Nasty
Seems quick and uncanny at shedding blocks to get to the runner

I missed article. DJ Jones apparently lost some LBS before the year started and played at 297 lbs. Not surprised since they like smaller, quicker noses in this scheme. Dude has been damn good. He deserves a shot to start.

"His name is DJ Jones and he's going to have a breakout season this year. He's the reason why I think the 49ers can pass on Q. Williams and Ed Oliver. DJ can ball. Kid has a bright future!"

Hmmm, this makes me think that the inactives might have been motivation to get in the shape they wanted, he did and got rewarded with starts and a lot of snaps.

Never heard of him until the cone drill at combine. I don't pay much attn to combine usually and cone drill...almost never. But watching DJJones run the cone drill at 320 lbs ....well, it was a thing of beauty and i don't even know if he had a good time or not. But good grief, a guy 320, and watching him dip and weave....it just seemed like something run by a guy some 200 lbs lighter. AFter that i was a fan ,and when we got him... i was delighted. Since then, the only time he showed poorly is when he wasn't on the field. Saleh , or our DL coach wanted older guys, i guess, but DJ did well virtually any time he got on the field. He has played well and should be one of our starter/rotataion guys going forward.
