Come to think of it, forget Thomas just go with Jones on that. If he can get 4-5 sacks that would be great

I'd say that's very unlikely.

Do you watch DJ Jones play last year? He's pretty damn good I would say he's better against the run than Buckner and of course worse against the pass but this boy is quick

Our run defense definitely suffered when he wasn't in there. You can't just have fast guys that rush the passer. I love those guys in the middle that stuff everything or occupy 2 blockers while the outside crashes in. We had a great one in Michael Carter. The Ravens had Ngata and NE had Wolfolk. You just didn't run up the middle against them.

To be honest when he got hurt our dlines unstoppableness went out the door

Very true. With Blair too It really helped cost us the Super Bowl along with losing Richburg. KCs rb was getting yards

This guy is the Trent Brown of the defensive line. A hidden gem that is going to turn out very very good

Totally agree.

Good call that he's the Trent Brown of the D Line.

He can play. I just don't agree with that prediction you made with him and Solly. Buckner was a three down workhorse that did everything you could ask for in this defense. Jones comes off the field in sub packages and Solly is a rotational player at best.
This is the guy I want to see next year!

Highly active interior guy with size & speed.

Thanks Wally. He has a lot of potential and has produced when on the field

I know what you mean but don't you think he could get four or five sacks and also occupy double teams, possibly a little better than Buckner? At least on bass downs? Nobody is close to as good as Buckner, but DJ Jones flashed a lot of great players last year. Since we made zero attempt to sign a free agent that is cheap like Harris or Wolfe, this guy better stay healthy
I would like us to try to lock Jones up to like a 2-3 year extension on the cheap right now, last thing we need is for him to have a break out year, and then we're looking to draft his replacement.

which is one of the main reasons he's such a good fit in this scheme. Those interior guys need to be explosive and quick.

I loved this sack!

Such a great football play 💪🏽

Yeah this guy may make the loss of buckner not as bad as we all think

I think if he stays healthy he can break out. I doubt he'll ever be a double digit sack guy, but he does have some nice wiggle and movement for a 300+ pound dlineman.
Love this guy. But i think we have to budget 400 snaps for him. Hes not gonna be a defo replacement.

Agreed, what was crazy underrated about Buckner he was always healthy and you knew he could play the whole game

He indeed was the rock. Sad to see him go and will always root for him, except against us.

I also agree with the poster on buying low, and extending Jones now.

Lol great gonna cost a fortune to resign him now

Ya that's the "problem" if he has a good year, he's gonna be 10 mil a year, at least.
Great problem to have. Plan for the future all you can,...worrying about success is a little extreme tho.
