I don't think there is really an NT in a wide 9 scheme. they are all basically pass rushers.

Correct. In Seifert's defense his NT was still a penetrator (Stubblefield) and his 3T was B.Y., a smaller, morecexplosive gap penetrator. Both still 1 gapped. In W9 they penetrate even more...no real traditional 2 gap "occupy 2" anymore.
He was supposed to have a more conclusive test Friday. Any results...

An MRI can still miss an injury if it's a small enough tear. That's still good news because if it's that small the healing and rehab should be quicker.

the swelling needs to go down to make a better scan and judgement.

He should be fine soon. The shoulder is not the problem, the concussion is. I think once he gets through concussion protocol, they will plug him back in. There are several that are saying Darrion Daniels is doing well in his place. I hope that is true.

what's going on with Street? He's part of the depth plan, right? Or is Kinlaw going to step in for Jones? A little concern about the DL since DeFo and Day went to the Colts. Do you see the DL as a strength with depth?

Thought I heard some positive things about Street recently. I'm still hopeful there. Him, Kinlaw, Jones when he's back, Thomas, look like the main interior guys right now? I like Darrion Daniels as a project but I'm guessing PS for him... What happened to Taylor, can he come back later in the season I forget.... Then Armstead, Bosa, Ford, Hyder, Blair the outside guys. Just remembered Dion Jordan

I still feel it's strong. But Street's just obviously played precious few snaps so we just haven't seen much (hopefully his coaches have seen more to justify the faith), but I know he's supposed to be a freak athlete so he has that going for him.. as does Kinlaw. Jones is a good NT/DT. Thomas is decent as depth... then the outside Armstead Bosa and Ford are all good if we get health from them 🤞🏽 And we just need Hyder and/or Blair to be solid rotational guys. So on paper IMO it'll still be a good unit this year, even if you figure Kinlaw will be up and down early...

I think, overall, we may be stronger on the DLine than last year. Yes, we may have lost Buckner and all that elite defensive talent, but that may have been offset by drafting Kinlaw *and* possible depth improvement in Solomon, and healing of Street, and a healthy DJ Jones and hopefully Julian Taylor. At least that what I hope.

I agree. And if not for the cap, that defensive squad could probably equal some of the legendary defenses of old.

I really like how John Lynch and Saleh, and Kocureck seem to be working well together. You got the DB, the LB squad, and the DLine all covered.

I'm really impressed how they've been able to bring in unknown free agent DLinemen last year that did well when plugged into the squad.
