DDaniels is in the same mold as DJJones - short squatty run stuffer - don't know much else about him, didn't really notice his play. Givens is a lightweight DT and I don't know how he'd handle run downs as the primary 2i.

Yea givens is kinda slender. Daniels did pretty well but it's a small sample size. DJ is the better player right now but with the cap so tight he's the type of guy we probably let walk and replace with a combination of guys.

DJ is a really good player I hope we can bring him back. He's probably the most underrated on the team besides K'Waun Williams.

I'd say promote next year from within and save every penny for the Corner spot and extensions to guys like Warner, Juszczyk etc.
I'm leaning towards having Givens start at NT, he's signed for 2021, I'd focus on re-signing Juice, Trent, Hyder, and Verrett, along with extending Warner, & Mostert, tender Moseley, Mullens, Wilson, Harris, and Brunskill.
I like Jones and he's been good but this is a position where there is depth. They lost their top 3 paid Defensive Linemen and the unit still played well. Givens and Street looked productive inside and no name guys like #65 Daniels and #77 Coatney showed flashes in their limited time. On the Edge #64 Barrett started to show promise towards the end. He got to Murray on the last play of the Arizona game and took him out for the following week. #96 Jordan was looking decent at Edge as well but had a couple of leg injuries that slowed him. #78 Willis seems to be a work in progress. If they keep getting a couple of guys on the interior and edge it's a pretty great group to go along with Hyder, Armstead, Kinlaw and Bosa. They might want to take his what? $2- 3 million and put that into Hyder's new deal.

We have Givens who can most likely replace DJ And more than replace his production for cheap

Only way I want Jones back, is if we resign T. Williams-Juice-Hyder-Verrett, and Warner gets extended. I would only bring Jones back on a 1 year prove it deal, and I wouldn't pay him much at all, so unlikely he comes back, but perhaps he will, to try to have a healthy and awesome year to boost his FA value next off season?

I really want DJ back, I think his injury history should make it achievable. Absolute stud, but has struggled to stay on the field.
What do we think his contract looks like?
I'm fine under 8mil per year.

No way I pay Jones any where near 8 million. I let Jones explore his market, and then see what is offered to him. If he really wants to get paid, then coming back here on a cheap 1 year prove it deal, and trying to ball out with a healthy Bosa and others along our DL will only help him. If Jones wants 4+ million and multiple years, then I let him walk, and put Givens and others in for him at a fraction of the cost.

This. Let Saleh take him with a nice contract to get us a comp pick next year

DJ is a solid player and disruptive when he's there the problem is he's never cracked more than a rotational player and isn't available much of the time. Anything more than backup money and we move on. I have zero problem with him at backup money because that will be his role for us, albeit a very good backup.

I would love to keep him. He's so underrated.

Givens is his replacement and is a better pass rusher and much cheaper
