This guy fell off a cliff after the promising rookie year. Exum Jr is better

Thats what the rules are. If you cant follow nfl rules you dont belong on a field.

He showed flashes yet everyone jumped the gun on him IMO. I never saw starter material in him, especially in the pass game.
I really loved AC in his rookie season, but his growth as a player seems to have stalled since then. He seems to truly love being on this team and the other players love playing with him, so it's going to be a huge shock to everyone if he's released, but other guys are outperforming him right now.

It's crazy to think we might keep 5 safties and he still might not make the cut. (Which really isn't fair since Ward seems to always have job security and he's never consistently available)

Truth. We usually just keep 4. So IMHO, he's out...even behind Exum right now and with Ward waiting in the wings.

Yep. You must follow the rules if you want to hit head to head that call penalty! I dont want to get penalty for call foul. They can hit his body and tackle than head to head that penalty foul.
Something definitely seemed off with him for a while now.

Never mind the uppercut to the chin, concussion and that the ball had already been 20 yards downfield and overthrown at the time of the hit.

f**k them, if they actually fine him for this s**t
Just asked this in the game thread...but how in the hell is that worthy of an ejection?

Is the rule updated to any personal foul gets the player ejected?

These are the hits they are trying to get out of the game. The ejection could be a case of just trying to send a stern message in a game that doesn't matter.

More likely the case. If the ball had been in the same zip code they prolly would not have ejected him.

C'mon, this is a BS call and they need to take these penalties out of the game. These hits were trademarks of guys like Lott, Tatum, John Lynch and Brian Dawkins - legends at the safety position. No one complained about those players when they played. Receivers have as much responsibility to protect themselves. That's like a boxer who drops his hands in a fight and wants the other guy penalized for hitting him.

It was a clean hit, aimed with the shoulder to the chest. To me, that play and a play in the run game he looked good. Good angles and closing speed.

How is this a stupid play yet this is legendary?

"Well back in my day those hits..."
These aren't those days anymore and we have to understand that. I'm probably in the minority but I think Colbert's hit was very dangerous and I don't mind that the league is trying to crackdown on it. Like some have mentioned, the pass was poorly thrown and Colbert could have still laid out a big hit without leading with the crown of his helmet. Doesn't matter if he led with a shoulder, he made contact with the helmet and the league is putting the responsibility on the defender to not hit with the helmet.

I understand it's not those days anymore but do you really think the league is better without Tatum, Lynch, Lott, and Dawkins players? None of those guys had great ball skills. You can say it's not safe, but that receiver has a choice to try and make that catch knowing a safety is there. A safety like that changes how offenses can attack. It's just plain stupid. Think of some of Patrick Willis's hits, he'd get kicked out of games today. That's just stupid.
