Some would say "oh no, another Grant Cohn article"
His titles are definitely click bait and I can appreciate that.
A lot of posters in here hate him and I think it's just because he writes outlandish s**t, which is a reflection of themselves.
When is Mullens gona have that breakout game that we are all like "Where have you been?"
I can't wait for that and the dump Jimmy and pay this kid millions, posts.

Kind of a mixed bag. His numbers look good, but I thought he held on to the ball too long on some plays, he missed some throws, but made some good throws. But what do you expect? He's an undrafted free agent with limited arm strength and now he gets to get the s**t kicked out of him by Washington Football Team's DL in 6 days.

He's a backup. Always has been. Always will be. We can't expect him to light it up ever.

Nick played pretty well given the circumstances and OL he has... several balls that should have been caught were dropped and he was under the pressure most of the game, the INT by White was a bad decision but everyone else was covered so what can we expect

A lot of points left as incomplete or thrown to the wrong spot.

This guy is a gun with no bullets. Nick says he can be a very good starter in the NFL. Sadly he's mistaken and in a game where we needed a shootout win like at New Orleans last season, Nick just doesn't have the ability to do that. Any team scoring over 24 points is going to be a challenge for us to win that game with Nick under center.

He's not a starter in this league, which pretty much makes us non-competitive against good teams.

When the camera pans to Mullens one can see the look in his eye" I have been discovered, I am not a starting qb." By JG going down my stock has plummeted because the tape I have put up as a starter is garbage at best.
At this point I would only ERFA Mullens if we get rid of Garoppolo and draft a qb. I would use same round tender meaning if someone offers him a contract he is gone. He is not even worth the 4 million dollar second round tender

I'm done seeing what Nick can do.
Worst backup in the league. I get nervous every time he drops back to pass

The second intercept was on Aiyuk.
He has moments of brilliance like his deep pass today but he still is inconsistent. I am keeping an open mind given the absolute garbage Oline that has let through 61 QB hits this season alone. He did grass a few balls as well. He is not a starter yet but I rate him better then say Gabbert. He can still improve. The Bills had a good defense as well.
My feeling is we draft a QB this year, cut CJ and see how the rookie goes behind JG and Mullens.

If you take away his once per game turnover in the redzone he isn't horrible. I held out hope for past two years to see if Nick could be our guy. While I am off that bandwagon, I still rather him than JG. I also believe he is a top 5 backup in this league.
When you already have a preconceived dislike for the dude you're not going to look at it realistically. He played a good enough game to win. The defense did not. He put up 24 points. While being a half yard a way from putting up 31 points. Aiyuk had a drop late in the 2nd that would would have put us in field goal range at the very least with still time on the clock.
Mullens is definitely a mixed bag. But his only issue with me is turnovers in the redzone and him trying to throw balls away AS he's being hit instead of BEFORE he is being hit. which also leads to some of his turnovers.
In the redzone with Nick is where Kyle REALLY needs to scheme him guys open. If Kyle can rein him in in the redzone I think he could be pretty decent for us. At the very least he could/should be Kyle's backup for rest of his career.
He's a hell of a lot better than many gives him credit for. Especially for a backup.

Honestly, he played fine. Aiyuk was the reason for one pick and it can be argued that Wilson could have fought for the one in the endzone.
Dude wasnt perfect, but he played well and the numbers reflect it. Better than Kimmy would have.

Agreed, he did it mainly without a running game that JG would have needed.
