FWIW I think it was Aikman that said he talked to the team before the game that outside of Shanahan, Mullens knows the offense better than anyone other than a coach

Exactly the sort of over reaction I might have expected. "Wow, Nick was great, who needs Jimmy G!" I am really happy for him and glad that he played well. But it is only one game against a really bad team. Remember that kid Flynn from Green Bay a few years ago. Stepped in for an injured Rodgers and threw for something like six touchdowns in one game, which I think is some sort of Packer record, parlayed that into a deal with Seattle and promptly got beaten out by Russell Wilson and has more or less never been heard from since. Reading some of the articles about how he has prepared himself through the past two years one can't help but be impressed by his work ethic and desire to succeed. I would be all for him starting against the Giants but would not be at all surprised to see him have a bit rougher go of it than last night, which went about as smoothly as anyone could have hoped for. If it turns out that he is the real deal and can sustain his play then what a great situation the team will be in moving forward. Go Niners!

Didn't get to see the game, but I saw highlights.
He did look confident and decisive.. but in looking at it, it felt like he had a lot of "easy" throws off the play action, which is a credit to the running game and Kyle Shanahan's gameplay. There were also a couple plays that turned out to be nice (Kittle's catch and run). I'd definitely like to see more because the sample size was small.
