Good thing Nick wasn't just starting one game at the end of the season. I imagine if he continues to start we'll see how he handles adversity and if he can show some consistency.

Five games is typically the minimum measuring stick (see Jimmy G). Plenty of players can have a good four game stretch and then collapse. It's hard to put together a stretch of that long or longer with sustained success.

Smart group who sees the bigger picture and one that actually plans on "getting this right through the draft."

They have as many first round picks as we have total picks.

Why hasn't Shanahan inserted Mullens into the lineup until now. For 49er fans with years of watching the Greats it isn't a stretch to see that Mullens is much quicker in the pocket than Beathard. What exactly is Shanahan seeing?

He's seeing his hand picked guy prove everyone wrong.

To be fair I'm not sure anyone thought Mullens would ball out like this. Maybe he doesn't look that good in practice 🤷🏻‍♂️

He was an UDFA and no other teams wanted him for two full offseasons. He wasn't even on our 53 until Jimmy G. got hurt.

Only one pass went beyond 11 yards in the air (20). Don't get me wrong, I like him a lot; I gave up on CJ after last year. But the Raiders were like practice.

This is it right here. It was a cool game and all but has got a long way to go.
These threads really give me a chuckle

Giants do have a good defense, their offense may not be that much but their D has been playing well.
I'm excited by the idea of the team being good enough to see players develop. Before last night it seemed like the over all play was so bad you couldn't even evaluate any of the younger guys. Having a QB that can play with the rhythm our system requires means we can see which other players can fit in that system. Ritchie James, for example, seems like he could fit well. And it's tough to see that when drives stall or we turn the ball over 5 times.

So I'm now a Mullens fan.

But let's also be a little realistic here. That pass to Kittle was amazing, ballsy, and pretty damn lucky. I think throws like that are usually picks not 70 yard gains. If it had been a pick, and he finished the night with 200 yards, 2 TDs and 1 int I don't think he'd be getting quite the hype. I'd still be pretty pumped about his overall performance though.

Anyway, the measure of a pro athlete isn't his good they are out the gate. It's how the respond once the rest of the league figures them out. Do they have a counter for the league's counter?

Hopefully we see enough if Mullens to find out. I'd love to have a backup that can keep the ship afloat at least.

Should be a fun game.

Mullens has to throw out patterns, pic 6 festivals for NFL corners. He needs to throw intermediate routes. His longest completed pass was 11 yards, except for 1 20.

Till then no one will take him seriously. Does he has the arm strength? That's the $64 question.
