He's seeing his hand picked guy prove everyone wrong.
To be fair I'm not sure anyone thought Mullens would ball out like this. Maybe he doesn't look that good in practice 🤷🏻♂️
He was an UDFA and no other teams wanted him for two full offseasons. He wasn't even on our 53 until Jimmy G. got hurt.
Only one pass went beyond 11 yards in the air (20). Don't get me wrong, I like him a lot; I gave up on CJ after last year. But the Raiders were like practice.
We need a bigger sample size, but he was good last night. He was a little lucky on a pass through the end zone that could have been picked and Kittle was great. That said we eased up in the 4th or he could has thrown for 300 easy.
I keep hearing he's Shawn Hill 2.0 but I'll need to see more throws or else if it's true defenses will play him shallower. There's been decent medium arm strength QBs out there in the past (Bulger,Pennington) somlets see

Maybe Mullens sitting on the bench, playing practice squad scout qb and back up made him a better player??? They always say it is good to let qb's sit and learn the speed of the game. Mullens knows the offense and i am not a scout, but his passes appear to be crisper and hit receivers in strides, whereas cj hesitates and throws off his back foot to a floating ball that receivers have to slow down for... just what I see. Mullens fan

Let the kid play, let Brett Favre be happy, let us 49ers fans be happy and fall in love with a Quarterback again.

The whole night can be chalked up to beginners luck except for the one through on third down where he sidearmed it under the pressure.
That one throw by itself shows he has some potential. Put that together with everything else and it's very promising.

The last five games we play teams with good to terrific pass rushes. Seahawks, Broncos, Seahawks, Bears, Rams (if they're undefeated they'll be looking for blood).
I trust that Kyle knows a whole lot more than me about QBs. Who starts the next two games and then the next five?
The running game could be huge, too. McKinnon is gone, Brieda is hurt, Mostert is gone. Alf? Who takes the pressure off the QB in those five games?
There are a lot of interesting things yet to look for those of us not on the Doom Squad.

I think Shanny will give the reigns to CJ the rest of the way. We've got Mullens tucked away incase something happens. We're sucking at RB right now, but I think it'll be Breida going forward. I think we beat the Giants and finish the season 3-13 and a top 5 pick.

He had a couple passes that were real floaters to the outside but ended up in completions. I was worried about his arm strength, but as the game went on he was setting his feet and really driving the ball. I sure hope he keeps it up!

If he plays good againts the giants, we should sign him to a 3 year deal. We can get him for a few million... I'm just afraid if he plays good, we might lose him at the end of the year. If he plays good, I want him on this team. He knows the offense, and can start at a moment's notice. We're in a pickle here.

Nah man he's already locked up through at least 2020 for nothing if we want him.

Well San Jose wants Nick back:
Hey @49ers, we know #BayAreaUnite and all, but can you give us back @TomasHertl48? We need him tonight. Thanks. pic.twitter.com/ZIJU4i85p6

The kittle throw was us getting lucky for a change. Great catch by George. I think staying away from tight windows is a good thing. Mullins does a lot of good looking off.
