He should pause the film at the point where Jimmy starts scrambling and juking down the sideline-- and get himself a beer.

Nick Mullens broke all of Bret Favre's college records. Jerry Granville said it would take a plane crash for him to play Favre. Then Favre threw four passes for him, and the first one was a pick 6. He had two interceptions, one sack, and zero completions in his four passes before he was traded to Green Bay.

Nick also has a better start to his NFL career than Favre.

Mullens>Favre
QB controversy!
(Yes, of course there is a high probability that it all comes crashing down fast, but for now DREAM BIG BABY!!)

I have seen enough of CJ to know he isn't the guy. With better talent around him, he could be Alex Smith mold. Not saying Mullen's is a keeper either, but I definitively know CJ isn't the guy.

Alex's only knock was that he was too conservative, trying to avoid the turnover rather than take a chance on a big play. Beathard is a turnover factory. Don't see how they're comparable at all. A better one would be Jeff George.

Disagree - I see a lot of early Alex Smith issues with CJ. Not the strongest arm and awful at feeling pressure in the pocket leading to a ton of fumbles, sacks and picks. Add in the lack of confidence which you can currently see in CJ's play and he looks a lot like Nolan years Alex.

Alex would roll to the right, avoid the sack, and throw it to the hotdog vendor in the 22nd row. He got too gunshy and did that all too often.

Alex came out of a spread set, and had to learn everything, but he does have the quick mind to learn to see the field. It's not possible to keep your confidence if your head coach challenges you to play hurt with a separated throwing shoulder when you know you can't get anything on the ball. Nolan then never let him throw on first down, liked to run twice into third and long, and then publically blamed Alex for Nolan's loss for not being able to pull it out when Alex was only allowed to pass in passing situations. Nolan wrote the book on the perfect plan to ruin a quarterback, taking it beyond where any coach has gone before.

Beathard came out of a pro set, and now has two years with the best offensive coach around that knows how to get receivers open, and he is still indecisive and late getting the ball out.

Quarterbacking in the NFL is a mental position requiring a quick mind. Not many people have the aptitude to do it. Alex, Nick, and Jimmy have that. C.J. does not.

It's been 1 game against the worst team in the league, worst defense in the league, and they're visibly tanking. Chill everyone.

Urban Meyer University of Utah graduated in 3 years with a B.A. Economics

No one ever accused Alex of being stupid. I threw a whole bunch of beer cans at whatever I could hit when I heard Alex not Cal Bear Aaron Rogers.
Dude was 7 miles away and you could almost see him playing at Memorial Stadium from the top row of Candlestick.

F Nolan and his "Yessir" BS.

Sorry, football ptsd

If he plays good, I want him on this team. He knows the offense, and can start at a moment's notice. We're in a pickle here.

He's on the team past 2019 no pickle man lol.

Good, I heard someone on tv say he was on a 1 year deal. I just saw we have him till 2020. Since that's the case, and IF he plays good, gets us some wins, I want him competiting with Garoppolo in training camp. I don't care how much Garoppolo makes.

We should give him a 5 year $140m contract.
