I think Kyle will milk it this time, unless one of the beat writers give it away with one of the practices

He wants to keep the giants guessing.

Some say that a player can't lose his job due to an injury. Well, it happens all the time. If an injury opens the door for another player to get in and play better than the guy who was forced out of the lineup, then, of course, he loses his job.

Mullens read unblocked linebacker Marquel Lee after the snap. Lee stepped too far toward the run to the right, so Mullens pulled the ball and threw the slant in the void left by Lee. If Lee dropped back or was passive in his run pursuit, Mullens would have handed the ball off and the offense would have had a numbers advantage to the run side.
Besides his poise, the most impressive trait that Mullens displayed against the Raiders was the ability to manipulate the defense with his eyes.
Beathard's struggles against the blitz have cost the 49ers games. In his small sample size, Mullens looks as if he sees and reacts to the blitz much better. According to Pro Football Focus, Mullens was 4-of-6 and threw for 85 yards and a touchdown against the blitz.
Mullens took a quick peek to the left and knew his protection was outnumbered to that side and that there was going to be a free rusher. He sped up his footwork and knew exactly where to go with the ball. Hall was already in a big-time speed disadvantage with James, but he made matters worse by playing James with outside leverage even though he had no help inside because of the blitz.

Yeah, I don't see any reason to rush it. Why not keep the DC in suspense? He'll have to prepare for two styles of play.
