I have to disagree- in person, his arm strength looks pretty bad. Has a lot of trouble getting the ball outside the numbers.

Mullens definitely looks poised and seems to go through his progressions. Anyway I'm not going to get too excited. There have been endless guys who come off the bench and make things happen for a bit and then come crashing down to earth big time.

Tim Rattay (yeah way back)
Shaun Hill
JT OSullivan
Troy Smith
Nate Davis (the zone wanted him to start because of one ridiculous circus throw he made in garbage time pre season).
Blaine Gabbert
CJ Beathard

I'm sure I've missed some. Hell even Alex Smith in 2009. That Texans game he came in to start the second half and threw like 3 TD passes on literally the same play to Vernon Davis three different times thanks to the genius of Jimmy Raye lol. And then he starts the next year 0-5 and nearly gets boo'd off the field ("We Want Carr")

Frankly I still need to see more of Jimmy G.

Blaine Gabbert when was he ever good?

I agree with Jimmy G. He has potential but he has to maintain it and he especially has to show he aint going to do stupid stuff like get injured just to gain two extra yards.

Mullens has to do a lot more push ups to develop arm strength so he can throw it deep. He is accurate at short range and gets it out quick but we will be playing some better teams soon so we will see if he can lift his game.

Just minor corrections:

2009 - Mike Martz was OC not Jimmy Raye, Nolan was fired, Sing took over as interim HC, Alex got benched for Shaun Hill and we went on a bit of run to close out at 8-8. Sing became HC after the season and immediately and idiotically fired Martz.

2010 - Sing hired Jimmy Raye as OC and Alex was named starter over Hill. Not for any failure by Hill, mind you. We regressed bigtime that year. Jimmy Raye was possibly the worst OC anytime anywhere.

Martz was the 08 oc. Raye was the oc in 09

I sincerely apologize for "correcting" correct statements. I didn't remember Sing or Jimmy Raye being around that extra full season. I also didn't mention that Nolan was fired as GM, too. But in 2008.

I did get it right about Jimmy Raye being the worst OC!

Only reason i really remember it is cus heading into 2010 a lot was made of alex having the same oc for back to back years. Something he had not had the first several yrs of his career.

I liked what I saw from Mullens. Two solid starts, he earned another one.

Wait what?

huh? CJ is racist now?

Cj was a trump supporter while he was running for office. Some people automatically call all trump supporters racists. So I'm guessing that's what he's talking about lol.
Maybe I watched the wrong game but he seemed like he had a bad case of happy feet at times which made him go to the checkdown. Which he missed a lot of open guys.

Was not impressed with him when he was under pressure for this game. He got spooked too quick. Looked up the stats "Mullens was under pressure on just nine of his 39 dropbacks. He was 3-of-9 for 12 yards with an interception and a passer rating of 2.8 while under pressure, per Pro Football Focus."

Man and that last throw of the game lol. Gotta give us something in play.

Good thing is Tampa is next and they're fodder.

Tampa is fodder? I'm sure they are looking at us as a win the way this team has played.
I love it how everyone here is an expert.. give players time to develop especially if they are young.. I thought Nick played a good game.. both int's are not his fault.. if you watch other teams around the NFL you will see that there is no perfect QB or even perfect player out there that doesnt make mistakes.. Our record is a combination of many things and not just one player. CJ and Nick have played well and we have been competing, unlike other teams with losing records.. i mean look at the raiders, they are getting blown out by everyone.. I trust this process and we need talent both on Offense and Defense.

If you're a conservative person, grew up in a rural area, support a Republican candidate, believe in God, are white (and especially male), and have a country-style appearance, you're most definitely a racist.

Don't you people get the memo?

((Really hope I don't have to include a sarcasm tag to this))

I can smell the irony from over here.
I'm not sure if anyone can confirm this, but I thought I hear Matt Maiocco this morning say that KS still thinks CJ is the best QB on active roster... It was a repeat of the game after show with Whitner, Garcia and Greg Papa (yuke.. )

It's because he is. Mullens played a couple of cupcake games with no film against him. It's pretty clear now he struggles to pass it outside and further than 10-15 yards. Good teams will eat that up. CJ's arm strength also doesn't handicap Kyle's play calling.

Keep that trade value valuable. You don't talk about a guy that was in a winless streak like a total loser. The 2 games of Mullens still fresh and speaks for itself.
