He ain't no Jason White. At minimum, Browning will be a really good second string to have on a team. Could be worse right?

Could be JT O'Sullivan.

He's was an Aggie, so I won't bash JT much.... but, Browning is A LOT better than him. You know that my man.

Wouldn't be mad at all if that's what happens

DJ is quickly becoming my favorite scout/draft analyst. I agree with a lot of what he says. Eli is exactly who Rosen comps to for me. Considering the fit for our team, Rosen is far and away qb1 for me. He's sound and controlled in a lot of what he does and operates from within the framework of his offense, which is precisely what Kyle wants in his quarterbacks. It's clear now that Kyle prefers quarterbacks that demonstrate they can operate and execute his offense.

I don't think the "character concerns" about Rosen will be enough to discourage Kyle and Lynch from drafting him, but it's definitely something to consider. One of the main reasons Kyle loved guys like Kirk Cousins and CJ Beathard was their exemplary character.

Yeah I like DJ...I've been saying I like Rosen with Kyle for a little bit, i could see him thriving in his system.

I'm still in the Kirk bandwagon cause it allows us more flexibility in the draft that could set us up for a couple yrs. I'll gladly take Rosen as plan B
So let's talk personality.

Tony Romo: frat boy who never grew up. Didn't really affect his play.

Johnny Football: Partying & drugs defined him.

Matt Leinart: I think he would've sucked regardless, but he didn't help himself by being more concerned with partying & tail surfing than being great.

JaMarcus Russell: Purple drank.

Cutler: Lacking charisma; still was a pretty good QB for the most part.

Geno Smith: LOOK AT MEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Phillip Rivers: Comes off as an a**hole but a truly great QB. Rubs people the wrong way & gives zero f**ks. Teammates love him, though.

Jamies Winston: Super cocky without having really proved anything yet. Whether his personality is an advantage or a disadvantage is yet to be seen.

Eli Manning: Punk**s who refused to play for the Chargers. Kind of looks like a ret**d. Wonder how much he's respected.

...Which guy is most similar to Rosen? Is his maturity / personality going to bring him down, keep him w/ a chip on his shoulder or be totally benign?

Very nice presentation. I hope we can get him next year. But he'll be a very high draft pick if he really does well this year. If Kyle likes the guy, Praage and Lynch can probably get him.

Better start hoping Fournette goes off for Jax, Hackenberg stumbles into a few wins and Cleveland really likes Kizer...

That won't matter. If a QB is good enough, some team will trade up for him (I hope the Niners do).

I'm saying those are the teams that may have the #1 pick. And if they need a QB they won't be moving.

That's something I'm keeping an eye on this year. Even if you chalk up the forgettable moments (rally killing INTs, C yelling at him on the sideline, sometimes too-cool-for-football attitude) to being young, he really only has about one season of experience. Maybe he is more mature off the field having had to deal with rehab. But, I've still got to see it on the field.

I'm not expecting a phenomenal year from him. Rather, I just want to see that he's healthy, making good decisions, and carrying himself like an upperclassman. If he can take that step, I'll be more confident of his ability to be a pro and lead a pro offense.

If a QB is seen as good enough, the team holding the pick isn't trading out of it for any level of compensation.

Teams also tried to trade up for Andrew Luck and Marcus Mariota and all were shutdown.

I only have two concerns about Rosen (and I'm an SC guy so take it for what its worth: not very much)

1) when he was given a new system last year in the spring, he kinda acted like a jerk and fought the implementation (this by the way is where is personality is called into question). Now, maybe the system sucked, and it did very poorly last year after Rosen was hurt. But the offense as a whole outside of Rosen was a complete joke. A lot of kids that kicked ass in high school but seem not to be able to put it together in college. And this is NOT on Rosen, whom I believe is very talented.

2) Rosen hurt a nerve in his throwing shoulder. This has me very concerned about his recovery and the probability he reinjures and never recovers. This point has me the most concerned as in the NFL, it just takes one wrong hit. See- Matt Leinart: broke his color bone, kept re-breaking it. And for those that think Leinart would never have been capable, he did put together some good rookie games, then Wiz took over, and then he got hurt. But Leinart didn't help himself either soooo he shares a lot of blame regarding his flameout.

It goes both ways. Elway was able (I think) to get out of being drafted by the Irsay's because he was so good. I also think Eli had the same advantage, in that he was so good, he was able to choose *not to play* for the team that wanted to draft him. So, while a good QB will be probably a number 1 pick, and will be drafted by the worst team recordwise, he also has some leverage on the other side to get out of it. So, never say never!
