Don't insult Darnold by comparing him to Alex Smith. But I do agree Rosen would be in my opinion a great fit with Kyles system. Probably cause he looks like Matt Ryan out there

No disrespect to Darnold at all. I think he is a much better prospect than Alex (but who knows if Alex had the supporting cast he has now earlier in his career) but based on mechanics alone I think Rosen would be the guy if it had there were even keeled.
Have gone back and watched several games of Rosen from both his freshman and sophomore seasons. As much as I have concerns about some of the background stuff, man this guy throws a really pretty ball. Consistently beautiful throwing motion, good awareness in the pocket, a quick release, in terms of skill he is pretty advanced for most college QB's and everything just flows so well. I think Luck is the last guy I saw with this level of outstanding mechanics and Rosen might even be better when it comes to that.

If the concerns about temperament and intangibles check out, I could see Kyle being all over this guy because he is the prototypical QB for his style of offense and someone that could credibly step in and start from Day 1.

Nice anaylsis - thank you! I haven't watched a lot of UCLA football these past couple of years so this is much appreciated. Now, will definitely watch him when and where I can this year (yet root against UCLA in the process - any Southern CA team for that matter ). You mentioned good pocket awareness...to include hanging in the pocket where needed, toughness, etc.? You know Kyle likes all this in the pocket...much of what Beathard already has (not saying Beathard compares to Rosen's talent level, however).

2. San Francisco 49ers

Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA: Like the Browns, the 49ers were patient during the 2017 NFL Draft and now they're rewarded with a legit franchise quarterback -- assuming, of course, Kyle Shanahan doesn't find a way to get Kirk Cousins to San Francisco.

IMO, if Hoyer plays very well KS/JL go w/a QB in the draft.

If Hoyer sucks then it probably will be Cousins.

If Hoyer does well then wouldn't that push us out of contention for a QB.

if Hoyer sucks, then that probably means we are picking in the top 5 and would be in position to draft Rosen or Allen. I think Shannahan would go with the young blood.

If Hoyer does alright and we end up 8-15, then i think we go Cousins. Out of position to draft a top QB and Hoyer just seems like he cant get us over that playoff hump.

If Hoyer blows up and has us still in playoff talks in week 15, which means we end up somewhere 15-22, i think we roll with him and Beathard another season.

Kirk is going to get paid ALOT and if Hoyer doesnt impress enough and we cant reach a top rated QB in the draft, then i think we get desperate and sign him. But then again it depends on how Cousins does this year. If Cousins doesnt perform as well, he will see his future contract sink in value considerably
Rosen is off to a very slow start.

A lot like the Wyoming game - no one is open. Rosen hasn't been accurate so far either though.
At least Wyoming was playing up. Texas A&M is equal to UCLA. USC played down to Western Michigan.
Rough first week for the big 3. Rudolph, Falk and Mayfield all had big games. Lots of football left though.

One thing that's for sure is Darnold, Rosen and Allen may not get a ton of help to get their hype train going.
That OL has been horrible
Rosen did hit that long pass nicely

UCLA defense has been a joke

Last 2 passes have been great
Super quick release by Rosen
Love how Rosen's eyes are married to his feet.
