Let's not act like we're paying him $100 million for one yr of football lol. Even if it's $20-25 million we still have $80-$90 million in cap space....that's a lot of cash.

We could trade that top end pick for a king's ransom that will give us a plethora of young prospects on cheap contracts.
So is this guy actually worth a top pick? Personally I'd rather go cousins and keep cj. Draft a QB in round 2 this year to compete with them and if need be spend a top pick down the road. Atleast cousins is proven and then patch up other holes through the draft/fa

That will be a Lynch/Shanny decision. IMO he absolutely is.

Honestly I don't think there is a wrong answer. As long as we start spending some money and we have a QB next year.

IMO, there's only one quarterback option at the top of the draft, and it's the one that's not the splitting image of Blake Bortle's mechanics.

I prefer the QB on the cheap and get him weapons I don't think were in the discussion for the top pick because of Cousins I don't think he's anywhere. Rosen is gonna be real good you can see the kid is tough.
If we want him, I don't feel we'll have to trade up to get him.

That really depends. If the season ended now, we won't even have the first draft pick . Browns and giants are ahead of us. i can see the combination of barkley and rosen going one and 2 between the 2 teams.

Wouldn't that be our luck though? Just missing out...

So This. We are incredibly unlucky. Look at when we could pick in Top 5. QBs not available when we needed it.

2017 - Niners Pick (2nd, trade down to 3rd for Thomas). First QB Taken - Trubisky (picked 2nd to Bears)
2005 - Niners Pick (1st). First QB - Alex Smith (Niners)
1999 - Niners Pick (3rd, trade down to Skins). First QB - Pennington

Meanwhile you take a look at the Colts and the years when they were Top 5. Two out of the last four times they drafted in the Top 5 they hit on Manning and Luck. The other two were Edgerrin James and Marshall Faulk. Not bad.

If I am the Niners and I am drafting top 5 with Rosen available, I pick him. I go QB regardless if we land Cousins.

if we get cousins it makes 0 sense to go qb with a top pick

If we have the top pick it makes no sense to give a 100 million dollar contract instead of drafting Rosen.

you got it backwards dude, lol.

FA comes before draft

also cousins is young and established and comes to an offense hes familiar with

if it were up to me i would go cousins trade out of top pick draft a bunch of skill positions especially WR

If the Giants get the first pick I would almost guarantee they will draft the kid or deal him for a kings ransom. It would be the perfect scenario to draft Rosen, let him sit a year behind Manning, and then have their franchise QB for the future.

Giants will most definitely get Barkley they need a RB so bad not a problem tbh

And yet in his last 3 games Rosen has 5 INTs (which includes a bad INT into double coverage in the last game).

He plays 3 ranked teams in the 2nd half of his schedule...can't wait to see how he responds....

Nobody is taking a RB over a QB with the first pick. Rosen is likely going to be the #1 pick for whoever holds it. Manning is definitely on the downside of his career and you can more easily find a RB in later rounds than you can a QB.
