I've seen Browning practice in person. His arm is worse than weak. The ball hangs in the air forever on outbreak in routes. He got picked 2-3 times in team, and there should've been two more. Huskies have a FAST defense, for sure, but they were feasting on those ducks he was sending up.

I think that might be an overstatement. Seems like Alex Smith 2.0 t' me,

Of course you have to pick a play where Ross has the CB completely turned around and is open by a mile. If the CB drives on that ball, he gets there. There is no zip on that ball, which should be traveling on a line (who the hell needs to put air under a quick out?). He's smart, and he's a winner. I think the Colt McCoy comparison is accurate.

I was going to post something similar. I think it's hilarious that the video chosen is a throw any division 1 QB could make (and most could make better).

Browning still has Pettis who should be a 2nd or 3rd round NFL pick so he won't be completely exposed without John Ross, but his stats are going to take a dive. He's a great QB to have when your team is overwhelmingly more talented than the other team. Not such a great QB to have when your WRs suck and you're forced to throw the ball into tight windows (49ers the past couple years). Colt McCoy is a fair comparison.

Nobody's claiming he has zip on his passes. That's why I compared him to Alex Smith. His arm is weak, but it's not so weak that he'll be a guy who's lucky to have a job in the league like Colt McCoy.

That is the really frustrating thing about Browning. He has much of what you want from a franchise QB prospect but that arm would be a major liability. He still has time to develop, to gain weight, improve mechanically but unfortunately I don't think it will be enough for him to have an even average NFL arm.

If he had an arm like Darnold or Rosen I think he'd be a top 5 prospect easily.

Sickness makes a good point. People hated on Brady and Joe's arm. Of course not saying Browning is that, but he makes up for the arm strength in other ways. Still a kid, keep an open mind ya damn haters. He'll get better. #916er

What are you talking about? Brady never had these kinds of questions about arm strength and Montana had average arm strength (similar to Alex Smith's arm strength). Browning has a weaker arm and players are faster than 30 years so windows have gotten smaller.

As Phoenix pointed out, if Browning had a good arm, he'd be a top 5 pick. With a decent arm (Alex Smith), he'd be a likely first round pick. As it stands today, he'll likely be a mid-late round pick. You can enhance arm strength, but you can't turn a noodle arm into an NFL arm.

Browning has Smith like arm strength dude. Also, give the kid a chance. He's only 20 or something, and is a junior. I hope he stays all four years and gains arm strength.

Browning wishes he had Smith like arm strength. Yes he is only 20 but his arm is subpar to such a degree that I don't know if he will ever have even average NFL level arm strength.

Its not like there is some magic formula to gain arm strength. You can add weight, tighten up mechanics, improve somewhat and still possess a limited arm. Its the genetic luck of the draw.

You can wish for it all day long but if his arm doesn't improve to a significant degree his ceiling will be NFL backup quarterback.

I agree that a backup is most likely, but I don't think that's his ceiling. I think his ceiling is Jeff Garcia.

His arm is not NFL caliber and you can only strength it so much...it's the NFL man there's only 32 qbs in the world that are starters.

Could make for a Shaun hill type of backup, I just don't see it with him especially with all the other talent around him. If we're looking at mid-rd type of talent with upside, I'd rather go with a guy like Austin Allen.
Why is a 6th round QB being discussed in Josh Rosens forum?

He was in the running for Heisman, Kiper Jr.

Jason White won the Heisman and went undrafted along with 14 or 15 others.

This. Heisman Trophy doesn't mean a players going to succeed in the NFL. And let's leave bringing up Heisman trophies to one forum (Lamar Jackson) where we have to keep saying it's a irrelevant trophy to one poster (Glorydayz)

Just keep an open mind with Browning. May see a tremendous leap this year, and another one his senior year. Again, I'm biased. But not sure why everyone thinks a sophomore in college can't improve.
