Baalke is manipulator and salesman.

This
I thought Shah Khan was a smart owner … I guessed W.R.O.N.G, Huh
So you hired Baalke to join forces with another college HC? haha Khan found a way to f*ck up a slam dunk opportunity at a bright future with Meyer and Trevor Lawrence falling into his lap.
Lol

and now he can hire Tomsula and Nolan.
Urban Meyer randomly saw Baalke in the hallway at the Jags facility:

"Hey, im new to the NFL. Any idea where I can find a good GM?"

"You're in luck! You happen to be looking at a former Executive of the Year..."
I could not believe it when I saw this. Unbelievable. How is this guy getting a job? Jaguars are stupid for this. Balls must have naked pictures of the Jaguars owner or something...what is going on?

Via Breer in yesterdays MMQB column :

It'll be interesting to see where the GM position goes. Interim GM Trent Baalke remains in the running to take the job full-time. And my understanding is that ownership really likes Baalke, something that's obviously a factor since, well, that's who writes the checks (EVP of football administration and technology Tony Khan, Shad's son, helped hire Baalke through his friend, Baalke's ex-co-worker and current 49ers executive Paraag Marathe). Whether or not Meyer tries to steer the hire in another direction, I think, will come down to his research into it, which is ongoing

My guess is Meyer wants complete control and wants to be paired with a GM in title only that will allow that power dynamic to occur.

Baalke has a checkered past, but I think time has improved his status in the league. Some reasons to justify the move:
- He's worked with a college HC transitioning to the NFL
- He's led a team to deep playoff runs including a SB appearance.
- SF 2019 SB appearance had some Baalke pieces to it (Mostert, Armstead, Buckner, Ward)
- Outside of his 2012 draft class, other classes have faired a bit better with age.
What in the actual f**k this really happened. He must be a GM in name only because if he has any actual control of stuff it's a disaster.
What every player that tore an ACL in college is doing right now

Baalke has an ego and arrogance the size of Texas. That doesn't just go away
