I'm a Utah Utes and Joe Williams homer but I was extremely happy with both Breida and J.W. last night. Breida offers a little more in between the tackles while J.W. offers a little more outside. Of all out positions, rb was the very least of my concerns. Add in Hyde and Hightower and it's looking to be our most stable group. While Draughn had his moments, I would say we have definitely upgraded as far as depth and talent.

Sounds like hes got a spot locked up and might as well keep Hightower fresh.
Smart if that's the case. I like it.

Ha Ha. MJD
I had to look it up for Maurice Jones Drew.
I somehow thought of Machado-Joseph disease. Some symptoms, such as clumsiness and rigidity, make MJD commonly mistaken for drunkenness.
I was gonna say , that's harsh. I thought he looked pretty smooth out there.
My mistake

He had a new coach come in, installed a different system, didn't utilize him, etc. despite him crushing it the prior years. Poor coaching. This is why it's so important to have scouts who review the entire picture on players.

I still think joe williams played better. way less reps, and stood out more. not knocking breida, Just saw more from joe in less snaps.

This is why YPC is a bad stat to contrast their performance in game 1. Williams was given plays that offered him 10 yards of open space if he got to the corner -- where he did very well. Breida was given plays that offered him 2 linebackers and a safety if he got through the DL. Both did very well given what was asked of them.

2 of Matt Breida's 6 forced tackles missed (most in NFL last week) came on this run.
It's only one game. And we obviously need a larger sample size. But this past game showed Williams is a great option outside the tackles, and Breida is a great option between the tackles. One is a homerun hitter, and the other can make people miss in small spaces. For each, this was their M.O. coming into the league.
