Wow. I would have just extended both to 2-year deals. $6.6M for both is a lot. And nobody is going to bite on either. It all but guarantees they are back.

Pretty much the cash saved on McK goes to those guys. Can someone just give SF a 6th rd pick for Goodwin and give us some more space lol

Maybe for Solomon Thomas too? LOL

Why would they sign that?

Security. If McKinnon plays well, Breida is cut.

McKinnon, pre-injury was neve as good as Breida.

As a runner, I agree. But he wasn't brought here for that. It was always going to be a committee. He was brought here so Kyle could build a playbook around his ability to be a receiver and stay on the field to pass protect.

The 3 things Jimmy badly missed last year to balance the offense was:
1. XWR - with deep speed to consistently open up players underneath and deeper 9's and post patterns (chemistry)
2. Slot WR / F - 3rd down machine like Trent Taylor used to be and a bigger slot WR with a massive catch radius and athleticism (Hurd)
3. Receiver Arby - Kyle literally built a playbook around this weapon two years in a row

Yeah, I think we both know they used 2nd round tenders because they know there's a 0.0% chance any team forks over a 2nd rounder for either of these players.

Right. But, just like a franchise tag, can do a trade.

Yep, and in Breida's case I hope it happens. KB is good depth and does STs work. Breida has tumbled down the depth chart and I think a healthy McKinnon with Mostert, Wilson, a new rookie, and/or Coleman if not released/traded, is enough personnel in the backfield to trade Breida for whatever we can get.

100%
I still think Breida is our most talented back and it looks like Shanny still believes that although Mostert is much better between the tackles. You just can't have enough quickness on O and Breida brings that element. Wilson I like as well. The running back stable is the deepest in the league

He is not the most talented back, cant catch or run between tackles. And he fumbled. He went 3 months without doing anything. The last big game had was against the browns and even then he had one big run and got shut down the rest. If you want to say Mostert is the best back cool, but Breida definitely isnt

I didn't say he was the most effective I even stated Mostert is better between the tackles, I said he was the quickest with the most raw potential. Between him and Bourne I like his tender better I just felt like Bourne's value was a little better given the UDFA status and how he fits into the scheme. He's a good downfield blocking receiver. It's the little things that matter in the end
