Love the guy as well but i dont want us to gamble & be fooled to think hes a full timer starter he seems more like a Dion Lewis type of running back. We need a bell cow. To many talented prospects to pass up. Yeah i get it Joe Williams might be the guy but there's no guarantees either with that dude, plus u can never have to many good backs.
I've been trying to figure out what Breda's ceiling is, as whatever it is has an impact on how we approach the position this spring i.e.do we look for a starter or support player .

I think that's a good read on him.

I like Breida in his role but don't see him as an every down back. Lets not get ahead of ourselves with him. He's a great backup.
I remember seeing him break his first tackle 9 games into the season

Meh

Yeah, he's good just spelling the starter every once in a while - perfect role for him.

Again like Hyde, Matt Breida is a liability in the passing game because he struggles to catch the ball. In today's NFL running backs have to be a able to catch the ball not just out the backfield, but actually line up outside or in the slot at times too. Brieda is a nice story and can be a factor as a runner, however at this time the 49ers don't have a starting RB signed on the roster. That position really needs an upgrade badly. Brieda and Hyde were drive killers and momentum stoppers with their drops, just can't have that going forward.

Yeah. The last couple pages on this thread have been a little crazy

Watch him get some good attempts in rushing and receiving and getting over 1k scrimmage yards Imagine we get a Shanahan treat and he rushes for 1k out of nowhere when nobody expected him to

yeah I'm not sure we bother with RB early in draft unless someone falls. Wasn't Breida the one with the elite SPARQ score in the draft? no reason he can't double his stats.

I really think he has a chance to get to Kareem Hunt territory. Now will he win the job, or majority of attempts..who knows. As we've all agreed at worst we have a solid number two.

Breida played in some garbage offenses in college. Thought Hunt was more polished coming out. Reid did a good job scheming early then teams caught on and he came back to life haha.

Truth!

I think Breida is going to shock the clones who do their predictions in the media.

Glad I'm not the only one not impressed by Breida so far.

Seen him get trounced numerous times in pass blocking too.

I'm hoping to see great improvement from him this offseason though.

So you guys saw an undrafted rookie who didn't set all sorts of records out of the gate? That's pretty crazy....

Pretty sure they saw an undrafted rookie play like an undrafted rookie. Ceiling is low on this one IMO.

If he's still on the team this year it means we didn't do a good job upgrading.

Yeah that's not true

His althleticism is above average. In fact I am pretty sure that his SPARQ score was one of the highest for his position. He has a higher ceiling than you think. We definitely haven't seen the best that he has to offer.
