2nd... year... of... complete... roster... overhaul.

QB... check, Shore up O-line... check, find complimentary LB to foster... check, improved secondary if Sherman is 80% or better, Improved WR core... check... no more Louis Murphy types.

As they say, Rome wasnt built in a day. They went hard on offense these past two offseasons... which makes sense as KS is an offensive guru. If I were to bet on where our focus will be next season it will be hardcore passrush bringing in 3+ more vets or high round rookies to solidify one of the few week points left. At least on paper.. who knows you could be right and we just suck all year from not being able to sack anyone or maybe our offensive strategy pays off and forces opponents into passing situations which leads to an uptick in sacks.

But JFC... 6 year contracts for the headcoach and GM means they have the patience to do what they feel is right for the future and for right now. I doubt they thought they would have these expectations by year 2, but they are embracing it. Mack would of been awesome, but in the end if we keep hitting on first round picks the window will be just as open as if we had Mack. Maybe its homerism but every area they have focused on has been improved so far but there is only so much you can accomplish in each offseason.

I like CC and we can't all be positive in here (all the time), but complaining just to complain (especially before the season even starts) has got to be exhausting. Let's see how it all plays out before calling for peoples heads?

Like you said this is the 2nd yr of a total rebuild, Baalke and the previous coaches left this team in shambles. IF anyone thought we'd be rolling towards a SB or have a much better roster at this point then that's your own damn fault. There's always things we has fans would like the HC/FO to do differently but overall I'm happy with how this team is progressing. Still have a ways to go.

Personally, the way they've been hitting on 6th and 7th rounders -- I wouldn't have minded them trading down the ACL Kentavius Street pick for a couple of 6th and 7th rounders in the 2018 draft.

Having said that, definitely for next year - if they focus on the edge rusher postition, more likely than not - they will get some good players given how they've been drafting so well these past two years and the fact that the draft class is very strong at that position (supposedly).

I still have hope they have a solution this year, for the lack of a pass rush. We shall see in the vikings game if that's going to be true.

Here are a few of those times I thought he had a chance to break a big run but was either tripped up or didn't show the strength to bust through an arm tackle. Supposedly he's gained some weight, which hopefully means strength.

CB trips him up. Probably would have gotten run to the sidelines anyway.

Tripped up by a teammate's leg. Otherwise he's past the second level.

About to break past the second level but an arm tackle spins him around.

"I'm 200 (pounds) now," Breida said when he interjected the reporter. "I gained some weight."
"(Shanahan's) offense is crazy to learn, and me coming in there as a rookie and being thrown right into the fire was kind of overwhelming at first," Breida explained. "The second year around, you understand the offense. You understand why we're doing things (and understand) the concepts better. I feel ten times more comfortable out there than I did last year."

This is an excellent post - great awareness of Breida's running last year. This is what I immediately thought of after hearing the news about McKinnon and knowing Breida would now get more opportunities - can he break through the arm tackles better and break off bigger runs? We saw the potential last year (such as the above highlights). Now, with the added weight + strength (hopefully) + further understanding of the scheme, looking forward to seeing him take that next step. Also, hoping he'll do a little better as a pass catcher and can do what he needs to do in pass pro while staying healthy.

Agree. Good work THL. Hopefully the RB coaches saw what you have seen and are helping him with his technique to keep motoring.

Hyde out-targeted Breida by a large margin last season, but most (by approximation) of Hyde's targets were dumpoffs. On the other hand, Breida's targets were not. If there was some creative screen, most likely it involved Breida, not Hyde. Breida was the one that got to run routes where his route was part of the progression, not just a checkdown.

A couple of screens of the non-conventional variety. Drawn up for Breida. Breida caught a bunch of swing screens last season where the WRs were asked to block for him in the flat.

I really like this guy but like with McKinnon, man I just don't think he can hold up physically.
600 rush yds and 50 catches if he stays healthy this year 🙏

Good post... this is the #1 area of growth for Breida as far as I am concerned... too many 'shoe string tackles' last year that could have been big gainers... hope he is able to work through that this year..

This instant gratification society we live in is ultimately very unfulfilling. Enjoy the journey cc, not just the destination. This journey has only just begun.

Very well put. How does one with the handle "Bluesbro" have such a positive outlook?
Does anyone know what he weighed last offseason? Just wondering how much he had gained.
He definitely got better towards the end of last year, so hopefully he can continue that trajectory.
